Our reporter (reporter Wang Qiushi) A man, Mr. Jin, has been fond of military things since he was a child and also has a hobby of collecting toy guns. For this reason, he illegally purchased 11 guns online for collection purposes. Yesterday, it was reported that Tongzhou Court sentenced Mr. Jin to one year and six months in prison for illegal possession of firearms, with a two-year probation period. On October 19, 2011, the police in Tongzhou searched Mr. Jin's home and seized 11 gun-like objects. After identification, it was determined that 8 of them could use compressed gas as power to fire plastic spherical pellets, which were recognized as firearms. The defendant Mr. Jin turned himself in after being summoned by telephone from the police, and the involved firearms have been recovered and confiscated. During the trial, Mr. Jin kept his head down, stating that he really bought the guns out of personal interest for collection purposes and never used them. Moreover, his child is only four years old, so he hoped the judge would impose a lighter punishment. The court believed that Mr. Jin's behavior constituted the crime of illegal possession of firearms, which should be punished according to law. Considering that he truthfully confessed his crimes after being apprehended, constituting self-surrender, and showed a good attitude of confession and genuine remorse, the above-mentioned judgment was made accordingly.
