■ Follow-up on "Relatives of Zhang Miao declare acceptance of 200,000 yuan donation from Yao father"
Report by correspondent Kong Pu - At 11 a.m. yesterday, Zhang Pingxuan, the father of Zhang Miao, the victim in the "Yao Jiaxin case", her husband Wang Hui, and their agent Zhang Xian came downstairs to Yao Qingwei's house, preparing to go to Yao's place to "take" the previously promised donation of 200,000 yuan that Yao Qingwei had committed to giving via Weibo. During this process, Zhang Xian got into a verbal altercation with Yao Qingwei's agent Ma Yanming, after which Zhang Miao's husband Wang Hui assaulted Ma Yanming. After being taken to the police station by the officers, Wang Hui was fined 200 yuan.
Yao family claims no legal basis for donation
In the morning, upon learning that Zhang Pingxuan and others were planning to visit Yao's house, Yao Qingwei's agent lawyer Lan He communicated over the phone with Zhang Pingxuan. Lawyer Lan He informed Zhang Pingxuan over the phone: "This amount does not exist legally." Additionally, he mentioned that it is a private matter that can be discussed through phone or other means, and there should be no need to post notices in the community or cause any other conflict. Lan He also stated that if Zhang Pingxuan insisted on receiving this money, he could pursue it through legal channels by filing a lawsuit.
Zhang Pingxuan told Lan He that he needed the money to treat his wife Liu Xiaoqian, as the previous 100,000 yuan donation had been spent. After learning about the donation matter, he wanted to claim the money.
At 11 a.m., Zhang Pingxuan, Wang Hui, and Zhang Xian arrived at Yao Qingwei's building. Zhang Pingxuan had a specially borrowed shoulder bag ready to take away the 200,000 yuan that Yao Qingwei had once prepared to give them.
Family of Zhang Miao says they will seek other ways to demand money
By this time, another agent of Yao Qingwei, Ma Yanming, had already arrived at the neighborhood. He stopped Zhang Xian and asked him to explain to the media and the onlookers present the previous statement of "not accepting blood-stained money". As Ma Yanming and Zhang Xian were arguing, Wang Hui stepped forward and punched Ma Yanming twice. After the onlookers reported the incident to the police, the people involved in the altercation were taken away by the Changlezong Road Police Station officers, and Wang Hui, who had assaulted someone, was fined 200 yuan for public order violations.
Ma Yanming expressed dissatisfaction with this punishment, as the police did not penalize Zhang Xian for "picking quarrels and provoking troubles," which he believed showed obvious favoritism. He plans to file an administrative lawsuit against the Changlezong Road Police Station at the court tomorrow.
In the afternoon, Zhang Pingxuan told lawyer Lan He that the events of the morning were unexpected, and he indicated that he would not resort to such methods to demand money in the future.
■ Response
Yao family questions whether the "money-demanding incident" was planned
Yao Qingwei told reporters that if Zhang Pingxuan's family was truly in difficulty, both he and his lawyer Lan He are willing to provide all possible help and humanitarian assistance, but Zhang Pingxuan must disclose the exact amount and destination of the donations, proving his financial hardship. Furthermore, clarification is needed regarding the lies previously spread in the media.
Lawyer Lan He stated that Yao Qingwei should not, ought not, and does not have to pay this 200,000 yuan. He believes that the matter of Zhang's family demanding 200,000 yuan has "heavy traces of planning," and he questions whether Zhang Xian's involvement as a bystander is related to the reputation rights case.
