A Man Survives an Hour of Cardiac Arrest After Hanging Himself Due to Family Disputes
At around 2:00 AM, under normal circumstances, when a person's heart stops beating for about 10 minutes, the patient will die. However, in Hefei city, a man whose heart stopped beating for an hour after hanging himself was miraculously revived through emergency treatment. At approximately 12:10 AM today, the man was admitted to the ICU ward at the First People's Hospital of Hefei. But doctors indicated that even if the man survives, he would likely become a vegetative state patient. It was understood that this incident occurred merely due to family trivialities.
Family Members Lose Emotional Control
When the reporter arrived at the emergency department of the First People’s Hospital of Hefei, medical staff were doing their utmost to save the man who had hanged himself. Outside the emergency room, several women were crying together; they were relatives of the man who had attempted suicide. Miraculous Heartbeat Recovery

Several medical workers were incredibly excited. They clearly knew that the man had just stepped back from the brink of death. Although the man regained his heartbeat, he could not breathe independently and had to rely on a ventilator to maintain his breathing. He was subsequently transferred to the ICU of the hospital.
The doctor disclosed that the man regaining his heartbeat was considered a miracle. Under normal circumstances, when a person’s heart stops beating for 5-10 minutes, and the brain lacks oxygen for 5-10 minutes, the patient will die. “His heart stopped for over an hour, but luckily, we persisted and managed to revive him.”

At the ICU ward entrance, a doctor stated that although the man's heart was temporarily beating again, there was no guarantee that he could endure, "He might end up in a vegetative state." As soon as the doctor finished speaking, the man’s sister suddenly knelt down and cried out in grief, “He is still so young!”
It was understood that the man had a happy large family. They moved from their rural hometown in Feidong County to settle down in Hefei City. Relying on their small business near the pedestrian street, their lives gradually became prosperous. Argument Over Trivial Matters
According to relatives, the man was an extremely honest and straightforward person, usually speaking little and not good at expressing himself. Recently, he and his wife had disputes over family trivial matters. "During dinner, his wife even threw the plate," said the relatives after the incident, speculating, "He probably couldn't think straight at the moment." Some believed that before the incident, the man showed signs of depression, which might have been related to his decision to hang himself.
In fact, last night when the man hanged himself at home, his family didn’t realize what had happened until they saw the rope used for the hanging.
Doctors from the First People's Hospital of Hefei revealed that the man was discovered quite late, and additional time was needed to transport him to the hospital. "If he had been found earlier, it might have been better. The prolonged cardiac arrest led to massive death of brain cells, and the best outcome of the rescue would be that he becomes a vegetative state patient."
