Hemorrhoids are one type of anorectal disease. Their main symptom is painless bleeding during defecation, or accompanied by prolapse of the hemorrhoidal nucleus. Bleeding may occur during or after defecation, and can be either in drops or in a jet-like manner, with bright red blood that does not mix with feces. So how are internal hemorrhoids formed? Experts from the Yangzhou Armed Police Hospital Anorectal Center will answer this question for you.
The causes of internal hemorrhoids include:
1. When people stand or sit, the anus and rectum are located at the bottom, and gravity and organ pressure can affect blood return. Veins can easily expand and become tortuous, so many people who often stand or sit for long periods are prone to internal hemorrhoids.
2. Poor diet, exposure of the anal area to cold or heat, constipation, diarrhea, excessive alcohol consumption can all easily induce internal hemorrhoids.
3. Lack of exercise, reduced intestinal peristalsis, irregular bowel movements can lead to constipation and thus cause internal hemorrhoids.
4. Irregular living habits, such as binge eating, consuming too many refined foods, sitting on the toilet for too long, frequently staying up late, etc., are all major culprits of internal hemorrhoids.
5. Diseases such as liver cirrhosis, liver congestion, and cardiac insufficiency, as well as abdominal tumors and enlarged prostate, can all increase intra-abdominal pressure and form hemorrhoids, including pregnancy.
Experts from the Yangzhou Armed Police Hospital Anorectal Center remind: Long-term untreated internal hemorrhoids can cause necrosis. There have been reports abroad that thrombosis within internal hemorrhoids spreads upward, causing necrotic areas to extend to the rectal wall, resulting in severe pyemia within the pelvic cavity. Although this situation is rare, it must be taken seriously by clinical doctors. Internal hemorrhoid patients should not delay treatment and should seek medical attention at a regular hospital as soon as possible for early detection and treatment to avoid worsening the condition and making subsequent treatment more difficult.
