Yesterday afternoon, in an antique pavilion located at the center of Fenghe Tea Factory among the 10,000-mu tea plantation in Gui Mountain, Lai Jianhong, President of the County White Tea Association, was holding samples of Anji white tea in her hands, teaching the newly recruited store managers and marketing personnel of Fenghe White Tea how to distinguish between Anji white tea and white tea from other regions, as well as the grading of Anji white tea.
"The unique microclimate of Anji gives birth to Anji white tea, which is different from white tea produced in other areas. It has strict standards for planting, picking, and processing, and can be identified by observing its color, smelling its fragrance, appreciating its uniqueness, and evaluating its quality," Lai Jianhong said. For tea professionals who have been engaged in the planting, processing, and sales of white tea all year round, it's easy to tell the difference, but newly joined store owners must undergo training before they can make distinctions.
After a detailed Q&A session, Lai Jianhong and the owner of Fenghe White Tea took this group of "newcomers" to the tea garden on the back mountain for practical learning, familiarizing them with the growth process and picking standards of Anji white tea. It was learned that in order to expand marketing channels, Fenghe hired full-time marketing personnel this year to go to various places across the country and opened two new direct sales stores, one in Mudu, Jiangsu, and the other on Puyuan Avenue in Anji.
The person in charge of the tea enterprise introduced that to go beyond the Yangtze River Delta region, Fenghe chose a marketing model combining direct sales and franchising with branding, either relying on the channels of century-old shops or launching mother-and-child brands. So far, Fenghe White Tea has nearly 30 franchise stores and direct sales stores nationwide.
