The memorial page of the official microblog of Suzhou Park Public Security Fire Brigade. Sun Maohui. The picture comes from Sun Maohui's personal space. At around 5 o'clock in the morning yesterday, a sudden fire broke out on the second floor of a production workshop of an electronic enterprise in Suzhou Industrial Park, and more than 130 employees were trapped. The firefighters who arrived in time rushed into the sea of flames and saved all the trapped employees. As a result, during the continued search, two firefighters were knocked down by thick smoke. Sun Maohui, a 22-year-old Shandong-based special service team member, was unfortunately killed, while the other firefighter was out of danger after rescue. The specific cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Rescue scene
More than 130 trapped employees were rescued.
He was sacrificed when carried out by his comrades-in-arms.
In the afternoon yesterday, Suzhou Fire Brigade held an emergency press conference to inform the media of the fire situation and the news of Sun Maohui's sacrifice.
At 5:02 am on February 1, the Suzhou 119 command center received an alarm that a fire had occurred at Dawayun Precision Co., Ltd. on Tingxin Street in the industrial park. The fire department immediately dispatched 9 fire trucks and 50 officers from the jurisdictional Special Service Detachment No. 3, Su'an Detachment, and Jinji Lake Detachment to fight the fire.
The building on fire was a large-scale electronics factory. The fire site was located in the cleaning section of the shaping workshop on the second floor, with a large number of employees trapped inside. After successfully evacuating more than 130 employees in the first time, Team Leader Sun Maohui of Class Four of the Special Service Detachment No. 3 and Wang Haojun were both knocked down by thick smoke as they continued to search for deeper areas, with the exit being sealed off by the big fire. Wang Haojun was rescued after being injured, and Sun Maohui was heroically sacrificed when carried out by his comrades-in-arms. At around 7 o'clock, the big fire was completely extinguished, the rescue operation ended, and none of the trapped employees were injured or killed.
Captain Li Chaojun of the SWAT Team No. 3 of the Suzhou Fire Brigade participated in the rescue operation on that day. He recalled that the smoke and toxic gas were highly concentrated at the scene at the time, with zero visibility and the roof in danger of collapsing. They immediately began to evacuate the trapped people, almost rushing into the fire scene in the dark. Sun Maohui entered the fire scene repeatedly with his comrades-in-arms to evacuate the crowd and successfully rescued more than 130 trapped people. However, just as Sun Maohui rushed into the fire scene for the last time, the fire in the factory became fierce, and he never came out again.
Teammates' memories
He has been in the army for three years and has been awarded five times.
There are books on the bedside table preparing for the military school entrance examination.
"Little Sun loves studying in his spare time, and he likes to hold books during training. He also said that he would take this year's military school entrance examination." Captain Li Chaojun tearfully told reporters that in July this year, Sun Maohui will take the higher recruitment examination of the military academy. Previously, he was actively preparing for the exam, and there are now several English tutoring books and a thick stack of test papers on the bedside table in the dormitory.
Sun Maohui, born in December 1989, is from Laixiang, Shandong. Before joining the army in 2008, he was a college student at Qingdao Hotel Management College. He joined the army to realize his dream of being a soldier. In three years as a firefighter, he participated in more than 500 firefighting and rescue operations, was awarded five times, and was awarded the third-class merit twice; commended twice; once rated as an excellent soldier.
In 2010, during one firefighting operation, he risked his life and rescued two elderly people from the fire. In August 2011, Sun Maohui saw a child fall into the lake during a rescue operation. He jumped into the lake without hesitation... Recalling the recently sacrificed Sun Maohui, his teammates remembered one unforgettable scene after another.
Sun Maohui had a nickname called "bee expert" because he was always the one to deal with bee nests whenever an alarm was raised. Last year, he won the first place in the military skills competition of the division headquarters and was promoted to the class leader of the fourth class of the Special Service Detachment No. 3.
Netizens mourn
In life, he was fashionable and handsome, loved listening to music and taking selfies.
A special mourning web page was made for him by some netizens.
On the "Friends Network", I found Sun Maohui's personal space. The most recent message was left at 22:38 on January 22. Sun Maohui wrote "Fire alarm", and then a friend kindly reminded him to "pay attention to safety". There are dozens of photos and messages uploaded by himself in the space. He liked to show off his cool skateboarding pictures, and also showed off his neatly folded "tofu block" quilt. He would also post a few "very artistic" portrait photos to share with friends. Here, I clearly saw a fashionable boy who loves listening to music, skateboarding, taking selfies, and showing off his good looks - Sun Maohui.
In the morning yesterday, the official microblog of Suzhou Park Public Security Fire Brigade also released the news of Sun Maohui's sacrifice in the first time: "Sun Maohui, male, 22 years old, from Laixiang, Shandong, joined the army in December 08, the class leader of the fourth class of the Special Service Detachment No. 3 of the Suzhou Public Security Fire Brigade, lower rank, participated in more than 500 firefighting and rescue operations, backbone force of the Special Service Detachment No. 3, twice awarded the third-class merit. Please mourn for this brave 22-year-old firefighter!" Some netizens also made a web page for the "Suzhou Firefighter Sun Maohui Memorial Hall". Many comrades-in-arms, journalists, and netizens who heard the news came here to pay tribute and bless this young soldier - "Rest in peace!".
