Our staff reporter Wenli Liu reports that on February 28, I learned from the Guye Branch of the Tangshan Public Security Bureau that a major criminal gang which had been wandering around in Tangshan and other places, specializing in breaking into houses to steal cash and gold, was recently wiped out by the branch. Four members of the gang were arrested, who confessed to more than 110 cases, involving an amount of over 1.5 million yuan.
After the Spring Festival this year, some residential areas in the Guye District of Tangshan City successively experienced home burglary cases, involving an amount of more than 600,000 yuan. After on-site investigation and interviews, the special investigating team soon found that these series of cases were technical lock-picking house burglary cases, and the criminals' modus operandi were proficient.
After the case occurred, the special investigating team actively contacted and investigated with surrounding branches and county bureaus, and quickly linked the technical lock-picking house burglary case which happened at the beginning of January in a development zone with the case happened in the Guye District, determining that they were committed by the same gang. Further investigations revealed that the gang wandered around committing crimes, and the scope of their crimes involved multiple counties and districts of Qinhuangdao, Cangzhou, and Tangshan.
With the strong support of relevant departments of the Tangshan Municipal Public Security Bureau, on February 23, the police officers of the special investigating team successfully captured three members of the gang in the Wanda residential area of Tangshan and the Fuxing Building in Lunan. The next day, another member of the gang also fell into the net.
It has now been ascertained that the suspects Kong and Wang are both from Qianshan County, Anhui Province. Since last year, the two have fled to our province from their original place of origin, rented cars, and successively committed crimes in Guye, Qian'an, Kaiping, Zunhua, Yutian, Luan County, Fengrun, Haigang, Qinhuangdao, Cangzhou and other places using technical lock-picking methods to break into houses and steal, and handed over the large amount of gold products stolen to Huang, who then sold them to his superior Xie, forming a "one-stop" operation for stealing and selling gold.
According to the suspects' confession, in the past few months, they separately or jointly committed more than 110 thefts, involving an amount of more than 1.5 million yuan, and squandered the ill-gotten gains extravagantly after getting them. The police have already seized a large number of gold and silver products that they haven't yet disposed of, as well as a large amount of cash, foreign currency, gold coins, antiques, etc.
On February 28, the criminal suspects Huang and Xie were criminally detained, and the criminal suspects Kong and Wang were placed under compulsory measures by the police. Currently, the case is still under further review.
