Group buying websites encourage users to recommend friends for job applications; citizens worry about the unknown leakage of personal information.
An early report by Shen Jing and intern Zhao Wenxin states that can recruitment also be group-buying? Recently, a group-buying website Meituan announced that as long as the recommended person is successfully hired, the recommender will receive an iPhone 4S. Citizens have mixed opinions about this, some are worried that "personal information may be abused", while others want to try out its possibility. Legal professionals believe that if the recommender arbitrarily sends a friend's resume, they must bear the responsibility for infringement.
"Programmers, product managers, designers are all needed! Once the other party accepts the offer, the recommender immediately gets an iPhone 4S." Recently, Meituan posted the company's recruitment information on a group-buying page, attracting attention and heated discussions.
The majority of the recruited positions are technical roles, including JAVA, PHP senior engineers, architects, etc. For technical experts, "as long as there is a name and phone number, it counts as a resume."
However, no one has placed an order on the group-buying page so far. According to relevant personnel from Meituan, this group-buying event is relatively special, and the number of participants is not reflected on the page. However, they have already received more than 700 resumes via email.
Communication is required before sending someone's resume.
Regarding Meituan's "group-buying style" recruitment, citizen Mr. Yue feels that it is "completely unreliable," and he is concerned that such activities might have side effects. "Although the activity does not directly harm my or the recommended person's interests, there is a possibility that our personal information could be arbitrarily abused. If Meituan provides the information to third parties, we would not know, making it even harder to protect our rights."
Citizen Mr. Jin holds a different view, "If there is such an opportunity, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of trying it."
Ma Wenbin, a lawyer from the Shanghai branch of Beijing Hui Cheng Law Firm, believes that Meituan's mobilization of everyone to provide their friends' resumes to the website requires the consent of the friends. Otherwise, the recommender must bear legal liability for infringement.
In response, Meituan also made a prompt on the page, "Before you send your friend's resume, please communicate with them to avoid disputes."
