As the saying goes, "A woman's hands are her second face." Having long, beautifully trimmed nails has become the goal for fashionable women today. With summer approaching, the nail beauty industry is becoming increasingly popular. In Fuzhou, beauty salons, large shopping malls, cosmetics stores, and even street corners have mostly added nail beauty services. Since the financial and technical barriers to entering the nail beauty industry are not high, more and more people are now joining this emerging industry.
Yesterday afternoon, reporters at the Haiyun Image Design Studio on Jintai Road saw several fashionable women in their twenties quietly sitting in front of nail technicians while having their hands "taken care of." According to the store owner, Miss Zheng, who has two years of professional nail technician experience, American overlay nails, French gel nails, colored gel nails, inside-out carved gel nails, fiber nails, nail art, water marble painting, hand and foot care... all these are nail beauty projects. However, the most chosen by customers is still the basic daily hand care for just 10 yuan, including nail trimming, cuticle removal, nail polishing, waxing, and applying nail oil. If one wants their nails to be more "artistic," they can have flowers, grass, insects, or birds painted on them. According to reporters' investigations, current prices for nail beauty services in Fuzhou are: basic care for both hands at 10 yuan, nail drawing at 2 yuan per nail, fiber nails for both hands at 100 yuan, gel nails for both hands at 200 yuan, and the most expensive silk and light-cured nails at nearly 300 yuan. Additionally, there’s also toenail beautification, which costs twice as much as fingernails. A nail technician typically serves between 2 to 10 customers per day, with monthly incomes generally ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 yuan. Store owners like Miss Zheng can earn salaries comparable to middle-upper level white-collar workers.
Miss Zheng told reporters that nail beauty is an art form. Although theoretically, one can start practicing after just one week of learning, it takes two to three years of practice to become proficient. Modern nail beauty builds upon the traditional foundation of nail coloring by adding health care and artistic painting. This requires nail technicians to not only have professional product knowledge but also possess a certain level of painting skills. Besides these, attention to detail and patience are indispensable.
Miss Zheng expressed that currently, nail beauty in Fuzhou is still a relatively new beauty project. The investment is not substantial, and apart from about 1,000 yuan worth of nail materials each month, the most expensive cost is the rent. Establishing a shop in a bustling area with high foot traffic increases rental pressure. Currently, the number of people engaged in nail beauty in the city is rapidly increasing, leading to an overall decline in industry profits. However, Miss Zheng optimistically stated that as people's living standards improve, she believes that more and more people, including men, will begin to pay attention to hand "beautification." She believes that in the near future, nail beauty will become as essential in people's lives as hairdressing.
