A blizzard system that moved across eastern South Dakota on Tuesday night and this morning is largely winding down, according to the National Weather Service. By 1 p.m., Aberdeen had received 7.7 inches of snow, said Amy Parkin from the Weather Service office. She mentioned that snow was still falling in Edmunds and Faulk counties, and those areas could receive another half-inch or so of snow. The tail end of the system might move through Aberdeen, but any additional snow would be minimal. Parkin noted that most of the snow is heavy, so even though winds are around 20 mph, what has fallen shouldn't be blown around much. Other snow total reports to the National Weather Service include:
- Seven miles southeast of Faulkton: 11 inches
- Little Eagle: 12 inches
- Doland: 8.1 inches
- Ortonville, Minn.: 12 inches
- Three miles west of Sisseton: 12.2 inches
- Sisseton: 12 inches
