Is it that many people think they have some magical insight into the stock market? It seems the lower the buying price of stocks, the more certain traders are of their ability to pick gainers and know the exact moment to trade. Despite such predictions being proven to be money losers, investors persist in the belief that they have some sixth sense regarding small cap stocks. One lucky guess may be the road to quick financial ruin for many individuals. Stocks for which we spend just a few pennies or perhaps a dollar per share have a kind of gambler's appeal. The idea of making a 100-fold profit on some small company’s shares is irresistible to investors. Few people make or lose their fortune from small cap stocks. There is certainly money to be made in buying small cap stocks, however, you need to lower your expectations and definitely not let hype or sentiment impair your judgment. Just like the weather, the stock market changes a little each moment and sees huge changes over a week. This volatility requires constant monitoring if you have any hopes of consistent success. Today’s hot stock is tomorrow’s laughing stock. If you're just a bit late in keeping track of the trends, you might miss out on opportunities and end up with has-beens rather than current winners and performers. The good news is that there are hundreds and hundreds of professionals who can do this monitoring for you. They will not necessarily pick sure winners for you constantly. They can provide you with enough information to make an informed decision and have a shot at generating a nice profit. The internet is full of resources, and the hardest part is going through all the information to find what you need. Personally, I have found "The Penny Stock Prophet" to be one of my best resources (see link below). Penny stocks offer an excellent way for the small investor to get active in the stock market that can produce great returns. But they can’t be viewed any differently than other investments and involve the same due diligence and research. Just because they are cheap does not mean they don't carry the same risks as more expensive investments.
