So far, 2011 has seen a fair amount of excitement in video games, but there are also a large number of video games prepared to hit consoles and computers later this year. We have already seen some interesting sequels in the form of hardware-hungry titles like Dead Space 2 and even Mass Effect 2, the second chapter of the trilogy; Crysis 2, and Backbreaker 2. Hardcore FPS players got their hands on F.E.A.R. and the long-awaited Killzone 3, while those seeking different experiences were treated to Enslaved: Odyssey to the West from Capcom, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Dragon Age II, WWE All Stars, Fate of the Worlds, and NFS SHIFT 2 Unleashed. But as we turn the corner, the scene for video game releases in the fall of 2011 seems explosive. There are some huge titles just itching to be released, and the anticipation reflects throughout the gaming community. If all goes well, September and October could be among the busiest months of the year for gaming. Among some of the big name stars waiting to be unleashed will undoubtedly have everyone's ears perked up. Due out in late August in North America, Europe, and Australia (early September in Japan) is Deus Ex: Human Revolution, a game that has been in the making for over four years. Announced back in May 2007, the action RPG from Square Enix was originally slated for release by the end of 2009 but has turned into something you simply can't miss based on early versions. Also expected for a late August/early September release is Madden NFL 12, the American football champion. Good news for EA Sports Season Ticket holders is that they can get the game 3 days before it hits retail. There’s even a Hall of Fame Edition available in the U.S., providing all sports game fans with extra incentive. Resistance 3 is another video game scheduled to be released precisely in September 2011. One key factor about this title that excites us is its 16-player competitive online multiplayer aspect. This will be the first time PlayStation Move support as well as 3D support is adopted in the Resistance series. Expected to include four-player co-op is Gears of War 3, coming out mid-September. Originally slated for an April release, the third batch in the series was pushed back. If history is anything to go by, Gears 3 will storm the gaming world. With over a million pre-orders and several new aspects packed into the package, the title is expected to blow minds. As we march towards the end of September, the hunger built up among sports video game enthusiasts will once again be quenched by FIFA 12 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2012. Each game comes with improvements, but FIFA 12 seems set to bring more upgrades in terms of a new game engine, career mode, and a significant improvement leading to an interesting addition. October will experience madness with Asylum; according to city launch times. Batman: Arkham City sees the Dark Knight facing new challenges with a few upgrades to his Bat-gadgets while stopping a pile of villains' nefarious schemes. Moreover, fans of FPS can sink their teeth into something closer to the Middle East. Set near the Iraq-Iran border, Battlefield 3 turns up the heat in both single-player and multiplayer modes. Rounding out the most anticipated main releases will be one of the most famous treasure hunters in video games, Nathan Drake. Uncharted: Drake's Deception is set to fly off shelves in early November, packing the "Best Game at E3" award from this year's official PlayStation Magazine Awards. We hope Naughty Dog has learned some new tricks. But with Uncharted 2, expect more than just a bone thrown your way. Other notable video games set for release in 2011 include Forza Motorsport 4 coming out in October, and NBA 2K12 along with Spider-Man: Edge of Time, expected around the same time. Also worth checking out, beyond 2011, are F1, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, and Driver: San Francisco. So gear up, prepare for a rollercoaster ride through the second half of the year.
