Steps超越一切,the latest insight of playing badminton for 5 years - Ben Qu

I have been playing badminton on and off for five years. I took a badminton class for one semester in college, which was like an introduction to the sport. I've used rackets ranging from SZ rackets costing over 100 to Wilson and YY. Recently, I have gained the following insights about playing badminton:

(1) Footwork is more important than anything else, including smash shots and net control techniques. You don't necessarily have to hit the shuttle at the highest point - as long as your footwork is in place, you can return any shot and ensure the quality of your return.

(2) Make the change~~ Your shot patterns must vary when playing badminton! No matter how powerful your smashes are or how delicate your net play is, if your opponent becomes familiar with your shot patterns, you may easily go from being in control to being on the defensive. Always remind yourself (especially when you are losing points consecutively) - change...change!

(3) If the skill levels between players are equal and you want to win, first you need to get yourself excited. When you're excited, your reaction time is faster and so is your speed! Remind yourself before going on court - get excited...excited! Ideally, you should be as pumped up as if you were high on drugs, haha.

(4) You must always be confident in yourself: when you're confident, your footwork and stroke movements will be more fluid and graceful. Especially during defense, always remind yourself to be confident!

(5) If you're playing doubles in badminton, be forgiving of your partner's mistakes; nobody is perfect, right?

(6) Subconscious mindset while playing badminton: Don't always aim to finish off your opponent in one shot. Be prepared for the next rally at all times. (I've been making this mistake recently.)
