On April 25th, NetEase launched the "Art School Female Student Blog Contest." A first-year female student majoring in art design at a university in Yunnan, with the online name "Xu Xiao," quickly gained fame after revealing her sexual experiences on her participating blog. Her writing style was bold and her language explicit, leading some netizens to jokingly call her the "art school Muzi Mei," while others felt she was simply seeking fame.
By noon yesterday, the participant's NetEase blog was shut down, and related entertainment hot news on NetEase was also removed from the entertainment channel. With widespread online news coverage and the phone number provided by NetEase's entertainment editor, at 6 PM yesterday, the reporter confirmed after multiple inquiries that "Xu Xiao" was indeed a first-year student in the art design program of the class of 2007 at a university in Yunnan.

"The art school Muzi Mei" rises to fame through the blog contest.
In the morning yesterday, when opening the NetEase entertainment channel webpage, news about an art school girl exposing her sexual experiences became the "NetEase Entertainment Hot News of the Day."
In her blog, Xu Xiao wrote the参赛 declaration "Truth is beauty!" and subsequently published nine "excellent" blog posts including "Behind the 50 Yuan," "Virgin, Let's Do It Again," "Once, I Wanted to Become a Third-Rate Star," "Me, This Is How I Am," and "Pain." In her blog, Xu Xiao claimed to be a current student at Yunnan Arts University, aged 22. In her blog posts, she mentioned her emotional life and sexual experiences with her boyfriend. "Everything was fine with him, I just didn't like having sex with him... As his girlfriend, I really couldn't keep refusing him time and again, but I didn't want to have sex with him!"
Additionally, Xu Xiao wrote in her blog that she had once dreamed of becoming a third-rate star, "I don't know when it started, but I liked watching slightly pornographic movies and was particularly fond of third-rate films. Watching too many made me feel I could perform better than them." However, now she thought men no longer cared much for third-rate films, so she had lost interest in this dream as well.
These blog posts caused quite a stir. The attention from netizens quickly pushed this Yunnan female college student's blog to a prominent position on the NetEase entertainment channel. By the time her blog was closed at noon yesterday, 363 netizens had posted comments and cast 395 votes for her blog.
Sexual blog posts draw ridicule from netizens
After Xu Xiao exposed her sexual behavior in her blog posts, hundreds of netizens posted comments. The majority believed that Xu Xiao's actions were "stupid! Naive! Unusual! Not self-respecting!..."
A netizen from Weifang, Shandong commented on NetEase:
"Nowadays, female college students, it's not surprising that others don't consider you good people, you just don't strive hard enough!" Meanwhile, other netizens offered constructive opinions - a Guangzhou netizen said: "If you want to act in films, your quality isn't high enough yet, you need to improve your own cultivation before acting, otherwise, it won't be artistic enough, nor will there be a market." A Beijing netizen expressed: "Your appearance and your level of education, including your cultivation, determine that it will be difficult for you to become famous, let alone open your acting career through third-rate films! You should read more books and study hard!"
Yesterday, due to various reasons, the reporter was unable to contact the NetEase entertainment editor, nor could they learn about the original intentions behind NetEase's hosting of the Art School Female Students Blog Contest or their views on Xu Xiao exposing her sexual experiences in her blog. Afterwards, the reporter learned through the internet that the NetEase "Art School Female Students Blog Contest" began accepting entries and voting on April 25th and would end on June 25th. Simultaneously, TCL Computer Company would select one "TCL Most Brilliant Female Lead" who would receive a TCL notebook computer and have the opportunity to become the next TCL advertising female lead. Additionally, based on the voting results, NetEase Entertainment would select eight weekly TCL shining stars who would receive free professional photo shoots, Yunnan travel packages, or autographed China National Team tennis rackets.
It was reported that the requirements for participating in the blog contest were very relaxed, requiring participants to be female and studying art-related majors (including performance, music, art, broadcasting, design, etc.). Candidates, current students, and graduates were all eligible to participate. The method of participation was to open a NetEase blog - fill out personal information - maintain updates. Qualified netizens could all participate.
Simultaneously with the contest, NetEase initiated a discussion themed "What does an art school female student need to pay to become famous?" Should they participate in talent shows? Follow unwritten rules? Expose inside stories? Or work hard to improve their own artistic cultivation? Netizens engaged in heated discussions.
An art school female student participating in the blog contest stated that in order to achieve success in her career, creativity and diligence were her only stakes, and fate must still be in her own hands. "For me, it's not easy to become famous now because we are different from most people. We bear a world, not just a circle. To support ourselves, we can only rely on ourselves. I always believe that there's no such thing as a free lunch!"
During interviews within universities, many classmates aware of the incident expressed: "We cannot accept it, at least not seek fame in such a way."
Who is the protagonist?
On Xu Xiao's blog named "Ripples of the Heart Lake," Xu Xiao claimed to be 22 years old, studying at Yunnan Arts University, from a city in Yunnan. The blog also left a telephone number 0987-8092xxx. Moreover, the blog included photos of her and her classmates, as well as pictures of her artwork from her major.
Yesterday, during the process of contacting Xu Xiao, the reporter surprisingly discovered that the area code "0987" did not exist. However, changing the area code to Kunming's "0871," the phone call connected immediately. A female answered the phone saying that there indeed was a "Xu Xiao," who was currently in class, and the phone was a landline installed in the dormitory. However, she refused to disclose the institution.
Subsequently, the reporter went to Yunnan Arts University, and with the help of a teacher from the Fine Arts College, checked all the rosters but found no "Xu Xiao." After showing the pictures to the teachers, the teacher confidently stated: "There is no such person in the Arts College!"
Leaders of Yunnan Arts University expressed: "The school absolutely does not allow anyone to engage in acts that damage the school's reputation, regardless of whether they are our students or not, and upon verification, we will hold them legally accountable and demand restoration of our reputation!"
Flor Xu Yingming, Director of the Party Committee and Office of Yunnan Arts University, said that even if it was our student who committed acts damaging the school's reputation, strict handling would be carried out; if it was a student from another school "posing under our banner" damaging the school's reputation, legal procedures would be followed strictly to restore the school's reputation.
Adjacent phone numbers lock down the protagonist
At around 5 PM yesterday, the reporter repeatedly dialed the phone number left on Xu Xiao's blog, but the female answering the phone said: "You've dialed the wrong number! This is my private line, and there's no one here by the name you're looking for!" Subsequently, the reporter dialed two phone numbers adjacent to the tail number of that phone, unexpectedly finding both calls connected immediately. Two females who answered the phone confirmed that such a phone number did indeed exist, located in a female dormitory building of a certain university, and this number belonged to the neighboring dormitory.
At 6:47 PM, the reporter rushed to Xu Xiao's dormitory. After knocking on the door, two females opened it slightly, asking for the purpose after which they claimed: "There's no Xu Xiao here, and none of us know Xu Xiao." Through the door crack, the reporter saw several computers on a long desk in the middle of the room, with some females sitting in front of them surfing the internet. The two females guarding the door said: "This is the female dormitory, you can't enter casually." They then closed the door.
At the stairwell entrance on the first floor of the dormitory, a dormitory administrator, after checking the student roster, said: "There's no 'Xu Xiao,' but there is a student named Xu某某." Thus, the reporter returned upstairs and knocked on the door of Xu Xiao's dormitory again. After the two females opened the door, they claimed Xu某某 wasn't in the dormitory, possibly out playing. But when asked if they knew Xu Xiao, the females all警惕地 closed their mouths, indicating they didn't know much about her.
Teacher's impression: "She is very sensible, has pure thoughts"
At 7 PM last night, the reporter contacted Xu Xiao's homeroom teacher, Mr. Huang. Upon hearing the news, he couldn't believe it, saying that the child's family was very poor, usually obedient, and always sensible with pure thoughts. "Even if she missed classes due to illness, she would call the teacher to ask for leave."
After checking online, Mr. Huang remained silent for a long time before painfully saying: "As soon as I saw the picture, I recognized her, it's definitely her!" After confirming Xu Xiao's identity, Mr. Huang wanted to talk to her, but her dormitory phone kept going unanswered.
Regarding the sex blog issue, Mr. Huang defended his student thusly: "The child is only in her first year, she doesn't know what kind of impact this writing will have on her! She is also too naive, actually leaving a phone number that allows people to find her." The teacher also said he had met Xu Xiao's parents once, "dressed very plainly, their family is very poor," and the child owed the school part of her tuition fee when paying. Therefore, although the child's grades were just average and her appearance ordinary, she had always been obedient and sensible, "a very well-behaved student."
Perhaps wanting to exonerate his student, Mr. Huang said: "As for the blog itself, it may not have been written by the student herself, maybe it was downloaded or reprinted from the internet." However, just a few minutes later, Mr. Huang overturned his own viewpoint. He indicated that the photos were indeed of the student, and they were much prettier than in person. Not only could he recognize the student at a glance, but the classmates could also identify who it was right away.
During the conversation, the reporter learned that Mr. Huang had a good relationship with the students, even when some students started dating, they would bring their partners to meet Mr. Huang. "Some of the other students in her dormitory have boyfriends, but as for Xu Xiao, I've never heard anything." Mr. Huang expressed that he would definitely have a good talk with Xu Xiao and try to understand whether the content in the blog was her real experience. "Regardless of whether it's true or not, I hope to help her avoid taking too many detours." Finally, considering the student's age, family, and future employment issues, Mr. Huang hoped the reporter would not reveal Xu Xiao's real name or school name.
