Shenzhen Antiques City Live Body Painting
From November 16, 2008 to November 19, 2008, in celebration of Shenzhen Antiques City being selected and named as the third batch of National Cultural Industry Demonstration Bases by the Ministry of Culture, a series of events including the 15th National Antiques, Jewelry, and Art Exchange Conference, the 10th White Jade Masterpieces and Jade Carving Masters Exhibition, and the 8th Chinese Tea Culture Festival were inaugurated at the Antiques City. Among these activities, body painting was the most eye-catching event, attracting a large number of photography enthusiasts.
The body painting performance group from Shenzhen Starry Sky Cultural Communication Agency will present a performance combining body painting with traditional culture during this exchange conference, along with an on-site photography competition. It not only provides artists with infinite imaginative space but also results in rich and colorful body painting works.
According to the organizers of this performance, body painting as an art form originated from patterns on the bodies of indigenous people; and the face masks of characters in Peking Opera, one of China's national treasures, can also be considered one of the earliest masterpieces of body painting. The carrier for body painting art is the dynamic and lively human body, making it a flowing, three-dimensional artwork that inevitably brings a strong visual impact and challenges traditional aesthetic concepts.
In foreign countries, body painting as a professional cosmetic art has long been recognized in high-end circles. France once held an International Olympic Body Painting Competition, and the vast world provides endless creative material for body painters. With extraordinary imagination, they showcase their artistic talents on the ever-changing human body, custom designing the most splendid and unique costumes in the world. At this exchange conference, body painting will be performed in a new painting style, where painters will paint on performers' bodies live, with content focusing on symbols of Chinese traditional culture such as jade, tea, and blue-and-white porcelain. The company expressed that they hope to achieve a high level of elegance in both visual and spiritual experience through the combination of modern art and traditional culture, allowing people to correctly understand this emerging art form of body painting.
This on-site photography competition has low entry barriers but high requirements. Whether professional photographers or amateur photography enthusiasts, as long as they are interested in body painting photography and can submit their works according to the competition requirements to the organizing committee of this exchange conference or mail them to the Planning Department of Shenzhen Antiques City, they can participate in the contest. Later, the organizing committee will invite relevant experts to evaluate the entries and award prizes to the top three winners. The awards include one first prize of 3,000 yuan, two second prizes of 1,500 yuan each, three third prizes of 500 yuan each, and ten excellence awards of 100 yuan each. We hope all photography enthusiasts can capture excellent works.
