Challenge Microsoft! We want to challenge Microsoft! The problems of Microsoft's IE are ABC...XYZ, and my product has solved these problems and has unique advantages of ABC...XYZ. Every now and then, a browser would appear, making such claims. In the Chinese-style world, challenging the leader has always been a classic approach. If you win, you become the leader, an octogenarian scavenger who donated 270,000 yuan in ten years without using water or electricity but using rainwater to save money, enjoying money and beauty, overlooking the picturesque scenery of the world. If you lose, you are still an ordinary person, the only loss being a few more scars on your body, or living in seclusion to practice more skills. Such business with little investment, small risk, and great benefits, anyone with a bit of capital would want to try. Of course, every time they go, they don't forget to carry the banner of justice, prepare a bunch of weapons, bring a bunch of brothers for courage, and shout "Where there is oppression, there is resistance!"
Years ago, there was a newcomer called NETSCAPE, taking advantage of the strong wind of the Internet, quickly built a scenic spot on Microsoft's territory and was quickly accepted by everyone. With the backing of three hundred million yuan, the era of WWW browsers thus arrived, but unfortunately, it was soon discovered by its master, Microsoft. Microsoft deployed hundreds of thousands of troops, co-melted WWW browsers with Windows, launched IE, and continuously carried out encirclement and counter-encirclement battles. NETSCAPE was utterly defeated. This NETSCAPE, although still alive today, is already worse off than death.
However, since IE became the leader of the WWW browser world, it has never stopped being harassed by various "hostile" forces, local armed forces, and guerrillas. The most troublesome thing is that under the voice of overthrowing the "reactionary" rule of Microsoft on the Internet, capturing Microsoft first by capturing IE has become an important breakthrough point. After all, as the visual portal for users to surf the net, the strategic position of WWW browsers is too important. For more than a decade, Microsoft has only seen opponents break through the defenses in various places in the market in China.
Several years ago, there was a company called 3721, which broke through the address bar defense line and forcibly created a network real-name empire, and then sold itself to Yahoo, Microsoft's competitor in the search engine field. Although Yahoo went through several hands and eventually destroyed itself in this market, allowing Microsoft to recover lost ground, the address bar was quickly surrounded by a large number of guerrillas again.
Later, browsers like Firefox, Maxthon, World Window, Opera, Tencent TT, etc., respectively inserted into the soft ribs of IE, gradually eroded IE's territory, and captured many small surrounding positions of Microsoft, forming a situation of encircling and restraining Microsoft. At the same time, a large group of software developers divided from the guerrillas adopted methods such as changing the homepage, modifying the search exit, adding search toolbars, etc., to change the appearance of a large number of parameters originally default set by Microsoft that were beneficial to Microsoft, and under the temptation of Google and Baidu and other companies, turned this market into a world rewarding money from the search engine.
Later, search engines rushed to the front line bare-chested, and almost all mainstream search engine companies like Baidu, Google, etc., launched their own toolbars. Google and Sogou even directly launched their own browsers, and even 360, a tool software manufacturer, also launched its own browser.
In the mobile device market, IE is even more passive. In the camp of phones represented by Nokia using the Symbian operating system and the camp of counterfeit phones centered on the MediaTek chip, mobile Internet users can't see the shadow of IE. Even on Microsoft's own operating system, the WINDOWS smartphone, many users do not use pocket IE, known as the mobile version of IE, but use UCWEB, Opera, and other browsers.
With a splash, will the Microsoft building fall? Or, are these people just Microsoft's sharpening stones, and Microsoft IE will become stronger, more perfect, and easier to use with each challenge? The show has just started, and the ending is far from known. Let's wait and see.
