The National Meteorological Center released a three-day national weather forecast at 6:00 am on February 22:
I. Key Weather Conditions
1. Weak cold air affecting areas north of the Yangtze River
Starting from February 22, a weak cold front will move southward from the north, affecting areas along and north of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Most regions will experience a temperature drop of 4-8°C over five days. Some areas in central Inner Mongolia may see a temperature drop of up to 10-12°C, accompanied by winds of 4-5 on the Beaufort scale.
2. Precipitation in most parts of the Huai River and Yangtze River region
From February 22 to 25, most parts of the Huai River and Yangtze River region will continue to have overcast and rainy weather. Among these areas, some parts of northeastern Jiangxi, southern Anhui, and southwestern Zhejiang may experience heavy rain. Additionally, some parts of central-eastern Jilin will see moderate to heavy snow on February 22.
3. Thunderstorms in parts of the Yangtze River region
From February 22 to 23, some areas in the Yangtze River region will experience spring thunderstorms.
II. Specific Forecast for the Next Three Days
From 8:00 am on February 22 to 8:00 am on February 23, light to moderate snow will occur in western and northern Xinjiang, southeastern Inner Mongolia, central and eastern Northeast China, and northern North China. Some parts of central-eastern Jilin will see heavy snow (5-8 mm). Light to moderate rain or showers will occur in southern Huang-Huai region, Jianghan, eastern Southwest China, Huai River and Yangtze River region and areas to their south. Among these areas, some parts of southwestern Zhejiang, southern Anhui, and northeastern Jiangxi may see heavy rain (25-30 mm), with local areas in the Yangtze River region experiencing thunderstorms. Northern Xinjiang will see winds of 5-6 on the Beaufort scale, with wind speeds reaching 7-8 in mountain pass areas. The Bohai Strait and the Yellow Sea will see winds of 6-7, with gusts up to 8.
From 8:00 am on February 23 to 8:00 am on February 24, western and northern Xinjiang, northeastern Inner Mongolia, eastern Jilin, northern Shaanxi, and western North China will see light to moderate snow or flurries; southern and central Shaanxi, Jianghan, eastern Southwest China, western and southern Huai River and Yangtze River region and areas to their south will see light to moderate rain or showers; eastern Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, and Northeast China will see winds of 4-5 on the Beaufort scale; the Bohai Strait and the Yellow Sea will see winds of 6-7, with gusts up to 8.
From 8:00 am on February 24 to 8:00 am on February 25, northern Xinjiang, central and eastern Inner Mongolia, central and northern Northeast China, central and northern Shaanxi, eastern Gansu, and western North China will see light snow or flurries; southern Shaanxi, western Huang-Huai region, Jianghan, eastern Southwest China, Huai River and Yangtze River region and areas to their south will see light to moderate rain or showers.
