Around 10 a.m., Wu Guoguang, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation of Hunan Province, who is responsible for the overall work of the Provincial Highway Administration, announced that the bridge had been successfully joined. Zhong Fangping, manager of Changsha-Xiangtan Company, introduced the construction situation of Changsha-Xiangtan Expressway and Xiangjiang Special Bridge at the ceremony. The Changsha-Xiangtan section of Jingzhu Expressway (referred to as Changsha-Xiangtan Expressway) is an important part of the third vertical line of Yueyang (Hunan-Hubei boundary) to Linwu (Hunan-Guangdong boundary) Expressway in the "six verticals and eight horizontals" expressway network of Hunan Province, located in the comprehensive supporting reform pilot area of the "two-oriented society" of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration, and is the first two-oriented science and technology demonstration expressway in Hunan Province and the fifth one in the Ministry of Transport.

Xiangjiang Special Bridge is the controlling and landmark project of Changsha-Xiangtan Expressway, with a total length of 8.3 kilometers, six lanes in both directions, main bridge as 115+195+115 meters continuous rigid frame, bridge deck width of 38 meters, and is currently the longest bridge of expressways under construction in Hunan. The contractor is China Communications Construction Road & Bridge International Construction Co., Ltd.

Zhong Fangping said that the successful joining of Xiangjiang Special Bridge laid a solid foundation for the full opening to traffic of Changsha-Xiangtan Expressway at the end of the year. Meanwhile, the subsequent construction tasks are still very arduous. Song Chao, project manager of the third contract section of Changsha-Xiangtan Expressway, introduced that in order to ensure the progress of the project and improve the quality of the project, practicing the construction concept of Changsha-Xiangtan two-oriented science and technology demonstration expressway, as the controlling project and two-oriented science and technology demonstration point of Changsha-Xiangtan Expressway, Xiangjiang Special Bridge vigorously promoted the application of new technologies and new processes in the construction, solving many problems in the construction of the project, providing an important guarantee for the construction of high-quality and efficient Changsha-Xiangtan Expressway, enriching the connotation of "two-oriented expressway".

Due to the large number of pile foundations of Xiangjiang Special Bridge, heavy construction tasks, and poor geological conditions, in order to catch up with the schedule and improve the quality of the project, the pile foundation of the bridge introduced the use of rotary drilling rigs, changing the disadvantages of low efficiency and difficult quality control of traditional drilling rigs such as impact drilling rigs, achieving the "trinity" win-win situation of fast hole-making speed, high quality, and less equipment investment, well practicing the construction concept of fine and high-quality and the "resource-saving type" concept of two-oriented expressway.

At the same time, Xiangjiang Special Bridge was the first among all highway projects under construction in the province to adopt large-scale offshore equipment concrete mixing ships for bridge pile casting construction, realizing uninterrupted concrete pouring, improving production efficiency, accelerating the construction progress of waterborne cast-in-place piles, and allowing the limited construction period to achieve the maximum benefit. The application of prestressed intelligent tensioning instrument this new technology changed the inaccuracy of traditional bridge prestressed manual tensioning method, truly realizing "real-time tracking, process control, timely remedy" throughout the tensioning process, reducing human error, and improving the quality management level.

In order to ensure the construction quality of high pier and large span bridges and the personal safety of construction personnel, Xiangjiang Main Bridge construction introduced the bridge video monitoring system, which can conduct real-time monitoring and dynamic management of the construction site, effectively ensuring the high level and high quality of bridge construction.

In addition, according to the actual situation on-site during the construction of Xiangjiang Special Bridge, existing construction processes were improved and optimized, adopting new processes such as lowering steel caissons with multiple continuous jacks, processing rebar cages with long-line formwork method, and hydraulic hanging baskets. While ensuring the quality of the project, work efficiency was continuously improved and construction costs were reduced. New materials such as polypropylene fiber material and new prestressed duct grouting agent were boldly used, effectively saving resources and promoting environmental protection.

The route of Changsha-Xiangtan Expressway Xiangjiang Special Bridge crosses Xiangjiang River and Wei River. The terrain inside the floodplain on both sides is flat, with dense paddy fields, crisscrossing ditches, and numerous ponds distributed. During the construction process, in order to save agricultural land, the beam yard and rebar yard were set within the red line range, ensuring that no agricultural land was occupied outside the main line; to effectively protect farmland, all farmland areas crossed by Xiangjiang Special Bridge in Xiangjiang River, Wei River, and Wangcheng Dazhongyuan area were passed through by bridges.

The route of Changsha-Xiangtan Expressway passes through Hongjiazhou Community in Xiangjiang River, where more than a hundred households of villagers can only travel between the two banks of Xiangjiang River by fishing boats, making their lives extremely inconvenient. When designing Xiangjiang Special Bridge, considering this actual situation, pedestrian stairs were built and constructed between Hongjiazhou and the Changsha bank of Xiangjiang River, connecting Hongjiazhou with the two banks and bringing convenience to villagers' travel, fully reflecting the humanistic harmony purpose of Changsha-Xiangtan Expressway.

At the same time, during the design process, in order to facilitate the navigation of ships in the main channel of Xiangjiang River, a main span of 195 meters was adopted for Xiangjiang Special Bridge. To reduce pollution to the mother river Xiangjiang River, blockage belts, sedimentation tanks, and sewage tanks were established in the construction area. To reduce the impact on the lives of local residents, construction was scheduled during the day as much as possible, dust was fully covered, and greening was carried out as much as possible within the construction area.
