According to the Dongchu Evening News (reporter: Wan Jinghuang), a 10-year-old boy named Xiao Gang from Jinhu Street in Daye City filled a glass bottle with gunpowder to make a "homemade bomb," which exploded and injured several children who were watching. One of the victims had multiple wounds on his leg, and a piece of glass about 4 centimeters long was embedded in his back. Yesterday, the family of the injured said that if the matter is not handled properly, they will hold Xiao Gang's parents accountable.

According to Mr. Hu, the father of one of the victims, at around 12 noon on January 1st, 10-year-old Xiao Gang peeled some unexploded firecrackers, took out the gunpowder inside, and poured it into a glass bottle, which he then ignited. At the time, his son, Hu Jie, was playing nearby and was unexpectedly injured by the explosion.

The attending doctor of the injured said that when Hu Jie was brought to the hospital, there were obvious wounds on his thigh, and the bleeding would not stop. Some pieces of glass were embedded in the wounds, with the largest piece in the back wound being about three or four centimeters long.

Mr. Hu mentioned that another child, 11-year-old Xiao Luo, was also injured along with his son Hu Jie and was sent to the People's Hospital of Huangshi for treatment. Xiao Luo suffered facial injuries, with his face covered in fine, rain-like "blood spots" caused by flying sand.

"I heard a loud explosion, and soon after, my son came running home with blood all over his face, and I was terrified..." Xiao Luo's mother said that her son's face was injured, and his left ear was cut by a piece of glass. Three men without permits cut down 28 trees and were sentenced to probation after each replanted 150 trees.

"At the time, I heard a loud explosion, and a lot of sand flew onto my face, causing intense pain," said Xiao Luo, lying in the hospital bed. Xiao Gang from the same village had placed a glass bottle filled with gunpowder on a sand pile, claiming he had made a big "thunderclap" to show everyone. At the time, he and four or five other children gathered around to watch, but just as it was lit, they didn't have time to run far before the "thunderclap" exploded with a bang.

During the incident, Xiao Gang, who made the homemade "bomb," was also severely injured and has since been transferred to a hospital in Huangshi for treatment.
