"From New Year's Eve to the sixth day of the first lunar month, each characteristic Anji farmhouse in our county received more than 150 tourists per day. Currently, the distinctive Anji farmhouses in Xinhé Village, Yùtángyuán Village, Shěnjiā Village, and Guōdòng Village are basically fully booked," said a relevant official from the Anji Tourism Bureau of Wuyi County yesterday.
It is understood that most of the tourists staying at the Anji farmhouses in Wuyi during the Spring Festival come from Shanghai. Mr. Fang, whose ancestral home is in Chun'an but lives in Shanghai, came with his wife to the Yùtángyuán Village Anji farmhouse in Taoxi Town on New Year's Eve. It was their first time visiting Wuyi.
Mr. Fang told reporters that they chose to spend the Spring Festival holiday in Wuyi Anji because everyone is usually busy working, and they had heard that Wuyi's hot springs were famous, so they decided to take advantage of the Spring Festival break to relax. Additionally, after living in the city for a long time, life felt monotonous, and the festive atmosphere had faded. Wuyi has a beautiful environment and diverse rural tourism activities, allowing them to experience traditional rural ways of celebrating the New Year. "It was very refreshing to have dinner with people I didn't know, and the meal was incredibly satisfying. Afterward, I even sang 'Dare to Ask Where the Road Lies' on an ancient opera stage in the village," Mr. Fang excitedly recounted about this unique New Year's Eve. They stayed at the Yùtángyuán Village Anji farmhouse for three days and still felt it wasn't enough.
After touring Yùtángyuán Village, Mr. Chen Gendi, a tourist from Xujiahui, Shanghai, said that in recent years, he travels out every year to celebrate the Spring Festival, having visited places like Pan'an and Anji. This year, he signed up early through the Datong Travel agency in Shanghai and arrived in Wuyi on New Year's Eve. He first soaked in the hot springs in the city, then ate and stayed at the Yùtángyuán Anji farmhouse, and also visited scenic spots such as the Guōdòng Ancient Ecological Village and Dàhóngyán.
It is understood that currently, Wuyi County has a total of 132 Anji farmhouse operators, including two provincial-level Anji farmhouse characteristic villages, six municipal-level Anji farmhouse characteristic villages, 45 three-star operators, and directly employing 1,358 people. In 2011, they received nearly 750,000 tourists throughout the year, generating revenue exceeding 80 million yuan.
