Justice Network Liaoning, July 1 (Communicators Liu Yiwei, Guo Shusen, Zhu Mei) - Recently, Wang Ce, a high school third year student who fled after committing murder twelve years ago, was sentenced to life imprisonment for intentional homicide by the Chaoyang City Intermediate People's Court. Wang Ce had not yet turned 18 at the time of the killing, and was already in his thirties when he was captured.

On the evening of September 10, 1998, Wang Ce got into an argument and scuffle with his classmate Wang Zhiqiang over trivial matters in the classroom of Grade Three, Class One at Kazuo County Senior High School. After being separated by their classmates, Wang Ce felt bullied and could not bear it, so he went to the dormitory to retrieve a black plastic-handled knife. He then entered the classroom through the back door, climbed over desks, jumped to Wang Zhiqiang's desk, shouted "Wang Zhiqiang," and stabbed him once in the chest. Wang Zhiqiang was sent to the hospital by others but died after unsuccessful attempts to save him.

After the crime, Wang Ce fled out of the school amidst the chaos. He first escaped to Shenyang City and later worked on a construction site at a vehicle segment in Jilin City, Jilin Province, where he settled down until he was arrested by the public security authorities on October 13, 2010.

The court believed that the defendant Wang Ce had committed a heinous crime with grave consequences and should be punished according to law. At the time of the crime, Wang Ce was over fourteen years old but under eighteen years old, and thus should be given a lighter punishment according to law, leading to the aforementioned verdict.

When Wang Ce committed the murder, he was three months shy of turning eighteen, thereby avoiding the death penalty sentence.
