Two German companies have obtained a patent for technology that allows smelly text messages to be sent between mobile phones. Developed in conjunction with Convisual, an interactive services company, the chip is still at the development stage but is expected to be ready for the market in one or two years. When it is launched, it will contain around 100 different smells from which customers can choose. Manufacturers optimistically say that the chip could be used to send smells of sun and beach between friends and family members, and could even send special smell texts on certain festivals such as Mother's Day or Christmas. The product also has a built-in service to select and reject text messages to combat unpleasant smells, which can be said to be well-considered. I personally think this product is relatively mature.
