Yangcheng Evening News report by reporters Fu Jimao and Huang Ling: Just as dawn was breaking, the peaceful village was disrupted by several screams that startled all the villagers. In the early hours of November 27th, a tragedy befell the family of Zhou Binghua (pronunciation uncertain), a security officer from the Liuhe group in Yisha Village, Shatian Town, Dongguan City, resulting in two deaths and two severe injuries. According to family members, during the incident, Zhou Binghua was forced to ingest rat poison. Some villagers mentioned that when Zhou Binghua was carried out severely injured, he claimed "there were five people." Witnesses also reported seeing five individuals in a minivan, suspected to be the perpetrators.
The Dongguan police initially suspected that this case was a domestic tragedy caused by marital conflicts. However, some informed sources stated that Zhou Binghua had attacked his wife and children with a knife over housing construction issues. The situation remains unclear, and the case is still under investigation.
Two sons covered in blood called for help from their grandmother. At noon on the 27th, the scene of the incident was cordoned off, and the police were conducting an on-site investigation. The reporter observed that the scene was a two-story residential house. Nearby stood a low-tiled house where Zhou Binghua's nearly sixty-year-old mother resided. It was reported that after the incident, Zhou Binghua's elder son, Zhou Jian, and younger son, Zhou Hui, ran to their grandmother's place for help, leaving large bloodstains on the wooden windows and stone stools at her doorstep.
Zhou Binghua’s brother-in-law recounted that Zhou worked as a security officer in the village while his wife worked as a cleaner in a factory, and their two sons were still in school. Around 6 a.m. on the 27th, he faintly heard someone calling for help in the village. Following the sound, he found Zhou Jian and Zhou Hui, both covered in blood, at the door of Zhou Binghua's mother's tiled house. Zhou Hui held his throat, bleeding profusely, while Zhou Jian sat on a stool embracing his younger brother. Blood was everywhere on the stool and ground. Unable to speak, the boys couldn’t explain what happened. Subsequently, he shouted for help from the villagers and asked his wife to call the police.
Villagers rushed to Zhou Binghua’s residence and discovered the doors were locked from the inside. They used iron rods to break open the door and found the interior in disarray, covered in blood. Zhou Binghua and his wife lay on the bed, soaked in blood. Unconscious, Zhou Binghua was carried out, and soon after, the “120” emergency services arrived, transporting Zhou Binghua and his two sons to the Humen Taiping Hospital for treatment. Medical staff confirmed that Zhou Binghua’s wife had died at the scene.
It was said that the father had been poisoned and required gastric lavage. On the 27th, the reporter visited the Humen Taiping Hospital, where medical personnel explained that Zhou Hui, Zhou Binghua’s younger son, had no heartbeat or breathing upon arrival. Despite cardiopulmonary resuscitation, he could not be saved.
Among the three injured, the least severely hurt was Zhou Jian, Zhou Binghua’s elder son. He suffered multiple cuts, particularly on his head and neck, with his skull fractured. Experts in cranial surgery at Humen Taiping Hospital conducted emergency treatment. By the afternoon of the 27th, Zhou Jian’s vital signs were stable, and he was conscious, without immediate danger to his life. The hospital planned further CT scans of his brain for additional treatment.
Zhou Binghua’s condition was critical, currently in the intensive care unit, unconscious but with temporarily stable vital signs. Upon arrival at the hospital, his left wrist radial artery and nerve were severed, and there were superficial wounds on his neck. After hand surgery, he exhibited symptoms such as foaming at the mouth and convulsions. Family members claimed that the victim had ingested rat poison. The attending physician stated that the hospital immediately performed gastric lavage and other emergency treatments, organizing consultations with digestive medicine experts, but they could not yet confirm the presence of rat poison.
Was it a home invasion murder or did the father attack his wife and children? Some villagers speculated that since Zhou Binghua mentioned "five people" before collapsing, it might have been a home invasion murder. Others revealed that Zhou Binghua had attacked his wife and children with a knife due to housing construction issues, followed by cutting his veins and drinking rat poison in a suicide attempt.
