Among the permanent residents of Foshan, there are 701,200 people with talent resources. However, the talent density is below the provincial average. The "Analysis of the Distribution of Talent Resources in Foshan" released yesterday by the Municipal Bureau of Statistics shows that the status of talent resources in our city is not commensurate with the economic development position and is still very unadapted to the current task of industrial transformation and upgrading faced by Foshan.
The analysis report defines talent resources as the population group with a college degree or above, and analyzes and compares the distribution status and characteristics of Foshan's talent resources. Data from the sixth national population census show that in 2010, the talent resources among the permanent residents of Foshan increased by 505,500 compared to 2000, reaching 701,200 people, ranking fourth in the province in terms of total scale.
However, the talent density reflecting the overall quality of Foshan's employees is generally lower than the provincial average. According to the data from the second economic census, in 2008, the talent resource density of legal entities in Foshan was only 2,172 people, ranking 15th in the province, which is only 63% of Guangzhou and 75% of Shenzhen, and basically ranks in the middle and lower positions in the Pearl River Delta.
Although Foshan is a strong city in industry and enterprises have concentrated 74.8% of the city's talent resources, from the perspective of talent density, the number of talents per 10,000 people in enterprises is 1,788 people, of which the manufacturing industry has only 1,438 people.
"Foshan is a large city in manufacturing but not yet a large city in talent resources." Deputy Director Huang Feifei of the Municipal Bureau of Statistics believes that the quantity and quality of Foshan's talent resources find it difficult to meet the needs of Foshan's current industrial transformation and upgrading. The overall quality of labor force is relatively low, which is not conducive to the transformation and upgrading of Foshan's industries. Foshan must indeed enhance the sense of urgency and mission in doing talent work, and win the next round of development and competitive advantages with talent resource advantages.
The "Analysis" report proposes that in the future, Foshan must continue to rely on its strong industrial foundation, focus on the high-end of the industrial chain, and focus on cultivating and introducing high-level innovative talents while playing the main role of enterprises in attracting and nurturing talents to accelerate the transfer of talent resources to enterprises.
