It is reported that at the end of August last year, Hu noticed a post on Baidu Tieba selling slow lorises. He spent 4000 yuan to buy one and kept it in his rented apartment. However, Hu did not keep the slow loris out of "hobby". He had long known that the "slow loris" is a nationally protected animal. The slow loris, also known as the pygmy slow loris or wind monkey, is a critically endangered species under national first-class protection, mainly distributed in Yunnan and Guangxi provinces, and is almost as precious as the giant panda. It is understood that Hu kept the slow loris for resale profit. After three months of keeping the slow loris, Hu was ready to sell it. He posted on the Beijing channel of 58.com: "Due to girlfriend's opposition, I am transferring a large slow loris I have been keeping. I am a personal collector, not a merchant. Transactions in Beijing only." Based on this clue, the police arrested Hu on November 18th last year and seized seven nationally protected wild birds, including a little corella, which is listed in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Prosecutors remind that in recent years, due to illegal hunting and killing by humans, many wild animals are on the brink of extinction. The state has increased its efforts to protect precious wild plants and animals. Illegal hunting, killing, purchasing, transporting, or trading of endangered wild animals and their products is a criminal offense, punishable by imprisonment of less than five years, or five to ten years, and in particularly serious cases, more than ten years.
