Introduction: PROFIBUS & PROFINET, as automation bus technologies suitable for process automation, plant automation, and based on industrial Ethernet technology, provide a complete network solution for the field of automation communication. On August 18, 2011, the Shenzhen station roadshow event was successfully held after the Beijing station in July 2011. Experts and representatives attending this seminar came from product manufacturers, system integrators, research institutes, and users in the fields of petroleum, petrochemicals, IT, electronics, power, water treatment in surrounding cities such as Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Huizhou, and Zhuhai.

To allow representatives to more intuitively contact PROFIBUS & PROFINET technical solutions, Swedish HMS Company, Shenyang ZKBM, German HYPACK, Suzhou Meiming, German Hilscher, Tianjin WAGO, and other member units of the Chinese PROFIBUS & PROFINET Association brought their advanced system solutions and products to the site to share with the representatives.

The meeting was presided over by Mr. Xu Bin, the market work group leader of PI-China, and Dr. Liu Dan, the secretary-general of PI-China. Dr. Liu Dan introduced the related standards, certification systems, and development trends of PROFIBUS & PROFINET technology, as well as the development history of the Chinese PROFIBUS & PROFINET Association. The Chinese PROFIBUS & PROFINET Association (PI-China) was established on March 24, 2010, in Beijing. It is the only regional organization and branch recognized and supported by the PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI) organization in China. Currently, more than forty enterprises have registered as members.

At the meeting, experts from member units such as Siemens, Shenyang ZKBM, Suzhou Meiming, German HYPACK, Shanghai Automation Instrumentation Co., Ltd., etc., gave speeches on topics such as PROFIBUS standards, technical characteristics, solutions, and equipment system diagnosis.

The meeting also explained other application regulations related to PROFINET technology. Manager Zhao Jianying from Swedish HMS Industrial Networks Ltd. introduced the integration of PROFINET with existing fieldbus systems. The speaking experts also introduced aspects such as PROFINET IO, usage features of industrial-grade bus products, and on-site diagnostic technology.

This seminar also specifically introduced application regulations such as PROFIenergy, PROFIdrive, and PROFIsafe. The PROFIenergy regulation can import equipment that is not in use into energy-saving mode; the PROFIdrive regulation is used in the drive field; PROFIsafe realizes the functional safety of communication. These three regulations, combined with PROFIBUS & PROFINET communication technology, can provide users with complete system solutions.

This seminar attracted nearly 150 automation control professionals. Through data analysis of survey questionnaires, it was learned that the areas covered by representatives who are concerned about the PROFIBUS & PROFINET standards and technology are becoming increasingly extensive. This not only reflects the importance representatives attach to this technology but also reflects the enterprise distribution characteristics of Shenzhen and surrounding areas, providing reference for the promotion of PROFIBUS & PROFINET technology. After the meeting, the representatives provided valuable feedback and suggestions and hoped that more such activities would be held in the future.
