Shopkeeping skills: How to discover the advantages of your products

Perhaps many new sellers on Taobao will complain at the beginning about why their online stores don't have traffic. In fact, this is a stage that every new store owner must go through.

Many newcomers will complain: We work hard to find good sources of goods, organize our stores, decorate our stores, take pictures, rack our brains to write product descriptions, post ads everywhere, spend money on promotions, and stay by the computer all the time, for fear of missing a "ding dong". However, we always start in waiting and end in waiting! Can't we do more?

Have you ever thought: What kind of people would buy my products, what kind of pictures they like, what kind of text expression, what kind of promotional activities, and what kind of customer service.

Each group has its own shopping habits and preferences, which are the most obvious characteristics of their personalities. If we can "appeal to their preferences", we often can "achieve twice the result with half the effort".

For example: Men and women, white-collar workers and students, each group's demand for products, price, and shopping experience are different. If when promoting men's clothing, your product description is extremely feminine, romantic, and ethereal, it might scare away male customers.

So what should we do? Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will win a hundred battles without fail.

Know yourself: Recognize your own products and understand who will buy them.

Every product has its specific group of buyers. Some may have very clear customer positioning, such as prenatal music, while others may not be so clear. Take the most common women's clothing in the apparel industry as an example. First, choose one option that matches your product from each category below, and finally combine them. That will be the characteristics of a product, and also the group suitable for your product.

Style: Japanese style or Korean style or European/American style or original design or...,

Price: Below 50 or Below 100 or Above 100 or...,

Material: All cotton or Silk or Chiffon or Leather or...,

Age: 20 or 25+ or 30+ or...,

(Here I can only provide a train of thought. Regarding the industry and products, I believe shopkeepers know their own stuff better.) Assuming these conditions, after combining, you discover that your product is an original design style, priced over 100, made of silk, and suitable for girls over 25 years old. Then you need to start thinking: What are the characteristics of these people, what are their psychological traits?

Know your enemy: Understand your customers, start from their preferences, and try to satisfy them as much as possible.

Continuing with the above example, the group of people who like "original design style, priced over 100, made of silk, and suitable for girls over 25" are what kind of people. We can first assume that those who like original designs should pursue individuality and self-feeling. They trust sensory things more, and perhaps more emotional descriptions will attract them. And those priced over 100 yuan should have more confidence in online shopping, and have a certain economic foundation, pursuing quality. People who like silk material should also like natural and comfortable feelings, liking high-quality things. Suitable for those over 25 years old, further indicating that this group tends to focus more on white-collar workers or those with higher self-pursuits. By summarizing each point above, we basically understand who these groups of people are. Then analyze what kind of store style they like, what kind of product image representation, what kind of text description, what kind of promotional methods, or what kind of chat methods they prefer. There are differences existing. If you can "appeal to their preferences", then transactions will inevitably be smoother.

Just like Starbucks, its location selection and store settings are always in relatively fashionable areas, and there will definitely be a row of glass windows, just allowing passers-by to notice the people by the window. Choosing Starbucks, choosing by the window, is the characteristic manifestation of this group.

Of course, I still want to reiterate, I am not asking everyone to completely follow these steps. I just hope to give some ideas and inspiration. Opening a store on Taobao is absolutely not a simple buying and selling process. We need to learn and think.
