Baoyun Tong恒温恒湿新闻: The US Environmental Protection Agency is about to carry out chemical tests on endocrine disruptors. Recently, the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has established a list of chemicals that are suspected to be endocrine system disruptors, including 134 substances. This list includes substances that have been identified as priorities for evaluation under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), some chemical substances that may exist in drinking water, active ingredients of some pesticides, and some chemicals used in products, such as solvents, gasoline, plastics, personal care products, insecticides, and medicines including benzene, perchlorate, polyurethane, ethylene glycol, erythromycin, etc.
After public comment and review, the EPA will issue testing requirements to the manufacturers of these chemicals, urging them to submit data regarding whether the corresponding chemicals interfere with the regulation systems of estrogen, androgen, and thyroid hormone in the endocrine system.
In October 2009, the EPA had already issued a notice for the first batch of 67 pesticide chemicals, requiring relevant companies to provide information on the endocrine disruptor screening plan for these chemicals. In early 2011, the EPA will release corresponding requirements for the second batch of chemicals, namely the aforementioned 134 substances.
