Reported by New Express Reporter Wang Lv Bin and Intern Zhu Shuo: Cai Xiaojun entered only 4 days into an 18-year-old restaurant waitress job when she was found fallen from a dormitory building in the early morning hours. She was sent to the hospital but died after unsuccessful rescue attempts. On the morning of August 17th, a tragedy occurred downstairs at the Shek Kong fishing village quarters on South Dongxiao Road in Haizhu District, which made Li Shanyun's family question if work pressure induced this incident. Yesterday morning, several family members dressed in mourning attire came to the restaurant door to denounce the situation.

The restaurant stated that the initial police investigation confirmed Li Shanyun jumped off the building voluntarily, possibly due to her own emotional problems.

Scene Playback: Girl Found Hanging in the Morning

On the morning of August 17th at 6 am, security patrol Liang Shu in Haizhuqu District Tai Road area discovered an eighteen or nineteen-year-old woman lying in an open space next to the district parking lot.

"At first, I thought she was either a vagrant or mentally unstable and wanted to avoid her," Liang Shu said. When he tried to call up the woman, she couldn't move. Although there were no scars on her head, there were large purple-black marks on her right elbow and leg. "At that time, I also thought, is she alright? Just lying there," Liang Shu said. When people came to check, the woman looked very excited and kept quietly asking Liang Shu, "Please send me to the hospital." Liang Shu immediately called 110 for help. Thereafter, the woman asked for something to drink, so Liang Shu poured her a cup. Soon, the police arrived at the scene. The woman was relatively sober and accepted police interrogation. "When the police asked her name and office address, she could answer them," Liang Shu said. Not long after, the ambulance arrived at the scene, and the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Families Question Large Pressure Induced Incident

That morning at eight thirty in Haizhuqu District of Hunan, Li Shanyou suddenly received a phone call from the manager of the Stone Hill Fishing Village Restaurant where her sister Li Shanyun worked as a waitress and had been admitted for rescue. "When the restaurant said no, let me have a look at the past," Li Shanyou said. She and her family members rushed to the hospital but received news of Li Shanyun's death.

"My sister was under working pressure, anything could happen," according to Li Shanyou's memories. The night before the accident at 9 pm, Li Shanyun had returned home after work, and the two talked about things. "She told me that in the restaurant, there was great work pressure. She couldn't specify, but she didn't know how," Li Shanyou said. They are from Hengyang, Hunan. In early 2009, due to family poverty, Li Shanyun dropped out of key high school and went to Guangzhou, working in supermarkets and hotels as a waitress. "On August 13th, she started working at Stone Hill Village, but I didn't expect it to be only 4 days," Li Shanyou said. Li Shanyun's death reason is unclear, therefore yesterday morning at 10 when they made it, she and more than 20 people came to the restaurant to denounce the situation, "to ask clearly, is it right? Or did they kill her?"

Restaurant Response: Possibly Due to Feeling Trapped

Stone Hill Fishing Village Administrative Manager Chen Chunhong said in an interview that she learned of Li Shanyun's accident news at 8 in the morning, while en route to the hospital with Li Shanyun. However, when Chen Chunhong rushed to the hospital, Li Shanyun had already passed away. Chen Chunhong said, though Li Shanyun hadn't worked for 4 days, she was warm and her work was very happy. Later, Chen Chunhong learned from Li Shanyun's sister Li Shanyou that in May this year, Li Shanyun broke up with her boyfriend, but the two didn't break off completely.

"Police checked Li Shanyun's mobile phone and found some information like 'tired of living,'" Chen Chunhong said. At 3 pm that evening, Li Shanyun was woken by her mobile phone ringtone, then her roommate saw Li Shanyun holding the phone out to answer, but she never returned.

Meanwhile, Chen Chunhong also said that the police have confirmed Li Shanyun's jump off building act, so the restaurant believes that Li Shanyun took her life due to emotional problems with great possibility. But Li Shanyou said, Li Shanyun didn't have a boyfriend, so there are no emotional problems.

Currently, local authorities have been involved in the investigation, and the restaurant also said it would cooperate in dealing with the aftermath of the event.
