Key Points: After two members of a theft gang were controlled by the police, the remaining three accomplices actually returned to the scene with weapons to attack the police and attempt to rescue their captured comrades. On the morning of April 28th, Renqiu police swiftly acted upon receiving a citizen's report and successfully dismantled a robbery and theft criminal gang. During the arrest of the suspects, they suddenly attacked the police violently with axes and clubs, injuring officers and patrol team members. The police decisively fired shots, killing one suspect and wounding two others. Currently, apart from the one who was killed, the other four suspects have all been apprehended.
The surveillance video replays the scene of the police assault. At around 6 PM on April 28th, I saw the surveillance video extracted by the police from the gas station where the incident occurred at Renqiu Public Security Bureau. The video was shot from three different angles.
The first camera's footage showed that at 4:03 AM on the 28th, after the police arrived at the gas station and discovered a suspicious vehicle, one officer held a gun as a warning while another patrol team member cooperated, ordering the suspects to accept an inspection. After being warned, two young men stepped forward to be inspected, hands on their heads, while the two police personnel took corresponding measures to restrain them. At 4:09:26 AM, the footage shows a man wielding an axe gesturing, with the police holding guns as a warning. However, several men did not stop. At this moment, the two men originally lying on the ground suddenly attacked, assaulting the patrol team member. One axe-wielding thug struck the patrol team member down with one blow, while another continued attacking. At this point, the armed and alert officer decisively fired his gun, causing one thug to fall. The officer quickly rushed toward the thug attacking the patrol team member, attempting to save his colleague. But then two more thugs wielding axes attacked the armed officer, chasing and beating him into the shadow area of the surveillance footage. Around 4:10 AM, the two thugs returned to the lighted area, starting to drag the wounded thug away from the frame. The officer said that the car parked there belonged to the group of thugs, an "Elantra." At 4:11:19 AM, the front of a sedan appeared at the bottom of the frame —— the "Elantra" mentioned by the officer, which soon drove away from the scene.
In the second camera's footage, the car driven by the suspects entering the gas station can be clearly seen, with an elderly staff member coming out to refuel. Around 4:03 AM, images of the thugs with their hands on their heads appear. At 4:04:59 AM, the rear door of the "Elantra" slowly opened, and three men successively got out of the car, bending over and quietly fleeing from the side of the car. But shortly after, they returned, with two men grabbing weapons from the back seat and rushing out.
The third camera's footage is less detailed, but it also captures the scene of the group wielding axes and reversing the car.
Thugs return with weapons to rescue their controlled comrades.
At around 10:20 PM on the 28th, Renqiu police informed reporters of the preliminary details of the case.
The announcement stated that in the early hours of the 28th, after receiving a public report, Renqiu Public Security Bureau swiftly acted and successfully dismantled a robbery and theft criminal gang. During the arrest of the suspects, they suddenly attacked the police violently with axes and clubs, refusing to surrender and injuring officers and patrol team members. The police decisively fired shots, killing one person and wounding two others. Currently, apart from the one who was killed, the other four suspects have all been apprehended.
According to Renqiu police, at around 3:40 AM on the 28th, the command center of Renqiu Public Security Bureau received a report from citizens: a group of thugs driving a black unlicensed car were committing highway robbery on the road from Zhengluo Village to Xin'an Zhuang. After receiving the report, the command center immediately instructed the nearby Liangzhao Police Station to respond quickly. Deputy Chief Li Chao, who was on duty at the station, immediately led patrol team member Li Jian, armed with a gun, to the scene.
About ten minutes later, Li Chao and Li Jian discovered a suspicious black unlicensed car near the Liangzhao gas station and proceeded to investigate. During the investigation, two men got out of the car, while the other three fled. While Li Chao and Li Jian were controlling the two men, the three fugitives suddenly returned, grabbing axes and clubs from the car to attack Li Chao and Li Jian.
Li Chao and Li Jian faced violent resistance from the criminals, being slashed despite their injuries. Without fear of bloodshed or sacrifice, they did not retreat. Li Chao courageously fired his gun, wounding three men, but the vicious thugs continued to attack with axes, sticks, and bricks. In the situation where Li Chao and Li Jian were injured in multiple places and fell unconscious, the five thugs took the opportunity to escape, with one of the wounded thugs dying during the escape.
All suspects have been apprehended.
After the incident, the Provincial Public Security Department and the Cangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau quickly dispatched personnel to Renqiu to guide the investigation and console the injured officers and patrol team members. While fully rescuing the injured officers and patrol team members, Renqiu Public Security Bureau rapidly organized elite police forces to capture the fugitive suspects.
It was reported that according to hospital diagnoses, Officer Li Chao suffered fractures in multiple ribs and the left little finger, with multiple injuries to the torso and head. Patrol team member Li Jian suffered open cranial brain damage and is currently in critical condition, unconscious. By 3:30 PM on the 28th, the four fugitive thugs were successively captured in Renqiu city and the Luanping County train station.
Preliminary interrogations revealed that the five suspects were Ding Mou, Meng Mou, Liu Mou, Shi Mou, and Liu Moumou, all unemployed locals from Renqiu. Among them, Shi Mou was killed, while Liu Mou and Liu Moumou were injured. According to the suspects' confessions, since March of this year, the five had gathered and committed dozens of robberies and thefts in Renqiu.
Currently, the case is under further review. As of 11 PM when the reporter left Renqiu Public Security Bureau, the police were working overnight to further investigate the case.
