The Luchuan hot spring, in addition to containing a relatively high level of carbonate, also contains 24 chemical components and radioactive trace elements such as hydrogen sulfide, potassium, sodium, and calcium. This location is on the surface of the plagioclase granite massif, which geologically speaking is the northwestern edge of the Huaxia platform back. It has been repeatedly impacted and fractured by molten rock from the earth's core. After hundreds of years of complex changes, it formed an amazing underground thermal channel. The Jiuzhou River at the bottom of the Luchuan basin seeps into this underground thermal channel from the surface, then after being heated, circulates back to the surface, gushing out on the sandy beach, thus forming a hot spring. The reason the hot spring can treat illnesses is because it contains various chemical elements. The people of Luchuan attach great importance to the development and utilization of the hot springs. In 1958, they built the Guangxi Workers' Sanatorium next to the spring. On the hot spring beach, they dug pools and pumped the hot spring water to the hospital for treatment. Recently, they have also pumped it to the county town for residents to use, and constructed a hot spring swimming pool. The hot spring resort has become even more colorful. Luchuan is known as the "Capital of Iron Pots" and the "Hometown of Hot Springs." There is also a couplet written at the entrance to Luchuan: "Hot springs welcome guests, iron pots enter thousands of homes." The Luchuan Nine Dragons Hot Spring is located by the Jiuzhou River, one li south of the Luchuan county town in Guangxi. During the Tang Dynasty, there was once a Warm Water County established here in Luchuan, showing that the hot springs here have been famous since ancient times. The Luchuan hot spring is on the broad river beach, shrouded in mist with steam rising. The hot spring water gushes out from the sand at the water's edge. Just by using your hand to scoop away the fine sand, the clear, scalding hot spring water will flow out and quickly fill the pit. Placing oneself in the hot water-filled sand pit, lying in the warm spring water, and covering the body with hot sand is called a sand bath. The hot water and hot sand accelerate human blood circulation, making the whole body red and shiny, providing a pleasant experience. Common hot springs can be divided into low-temperature hot springs (20°C to 40°C), medium-temperature hot springs (40°C to 60°C), and high-temperature hot springs (above 60°C). The Luchuan hot spring belongs to the medium-temperature category, with a water temperature of 53°C, rich in 24 chemical components including carbonates, phosphates, sulfates, chloride, potassium, sodium, and calcium. It has relatively significant therapeutic effects on treating various skin diseases, rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, myositis, neurological diseases, lumbar muscle sprains, chronic gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, and some gynecological diseases. In 1958, the Guangxi Federation of Trade Unions built the "Luchuan Hot Spring Convalescent Hospital" on Dapo Ridge. The hospital is fully equipped, with strong technical expertise, a serene environment, fresh air, lush flowers and trees, and a climate like spring all year round. It is particularly famous domestically and internationally, including in Hong Kong and Macau, for combining hot springs, Chinese and Western medicines, and physical therapy to treat skin and rheumatic diseases. It offers specialized departments for skin and rheumatic diseases, neck, shoulder, waist, and leg pain, detoxification, mental illness, cerebrovascular disease, hepatitis B, and orthopedic trauma. It also has the first large indoor hot spring sand-water therapy venue in the country and runs a longevity liquor factory. A garden hotel with star-rated facilities has been built, with karaoke dance halls and a Changhai Park. The Luchuan hot spring integrates "treatment, recuperation, health care, tourism, vacation, and entertainment" into a modern open-type sanatorium, comprehensively meeting the needs of people from all walks of life, allowing more tourists to enjoy the natural bounty of the Luchuan hot spring. Records of the Luchuan hot spring date back to the Wude and Tianbao periods of the Tang Dynasty, when it was known as "Warm Spring County" and "Warm Water Prefecture," almost contemporaneous with the world-famous Huaqing Pool hot spring in Xi'an Lintong, made famous by Yang Guifei's "smooth and glossy skin washed in warm spring water." According to measurements by the Autonomous Region Hydrogeological Drilling Team, the hot spring area can extract 3,600 cubic meters of hot spring water daily, sufficient for 50,000 people. Currently, only 900 cubic meters are extracted, indicating great development potential. All year round, the water remains clear and warm, with steam rising, making it a well-known geothermal site throughout Guangxi. It was formed during tectonic movements when molten rock from the earth's core repeatedly impacted and fractured it. After millions of years of change, it formed an underground hot water channel. The Jiuzhou River at the bottom of the Luchuan basin seeps into this underground hot water channel from the surface, heats up, and then seeps back to the surface, forming a hot spring. Folk legends tell of how in ancient times, due to the hot weather, people would sweat profusely while cultivating the land all day long. At night, exhausted, they would lie in cattle pens, resulting in scabies all over their bodies. Later, the Goddess of the South Sea passed by, transformed into an old woman, and set up a pot to boil water on the riverbed, providing baths for the people, curing their scabies. Thus, the hot spring water has been gushing out warmly ever since. Since ancient times, not only local residents but also those from afar have come here for bathing, continuously throughout the year regardless of the season. The hot spring has become a bustling place, and "Sun Bathing Day" has become one of Luchuan's scenic spots.
