The top twenty malicious programs spread via email in the China region in February 2008 are as follows:

This is our first report after the Chinese traditional festival - Spring Festival, but the rankings in the report have not changed much. As with previous reports, Email-Worm.Win32.NetSky.q still leads the ranking, accounting for 21.94%. However, the second place was taken by Trojan-PSW.Win32.Lmir.bno with a proportion of 8.01%, which has been a popular malicious program in the China region and is still being spread through spam. The second-ranked Trojan pushed another malicious program that has always been in the top rankings to third place, which is Email-Worm.Win32.LovGate.w, this time it ranked third with 5.62%. The fourth place was occupied by a new malicious program, Backdoor.Win32.MSNMaker.be. We call it a new malicious program because it was only added to the virus database at the end of January 2008. This backdoor and its family can capture MSN messages and have remote control functions. The other ranking situations on the list have changed little compared to last month, just slight changes in the order between some malicious programs. However, it is worth noting that the proportion of malicious programs that usually do not enter the top twenty is very small, but this month the total proportion of all malicious programs that did not enter the top twenty has increased significantly compared to before, with this month's proportion being 39.35%.

Another report is the ranking of city infection situations in the China region. It is not surprising that Beijing occupies the top of the list, but the fact that Beijing accounts for nearly three-quarters of the proportion is indeed noteworthy. The proportions of other cities are much smaller than those of the capital Beijing.

There is another interesting phenomenon that probably cannot be seen from this statistical table, because it is based on our daily observations: On normal weekdays, the infection situations of China and Beijing rank among the top in the world countries and cities, but during the Chinese Spring Festival holiday period, China and Beijing disappeared from the top twenty globally infected countries and cities. However, in the first week after the holiday, China and Beijing once again took back the first place for countries and cities respectively, so perhaps the best antivirus product is the Chinese Spring Festival, not any other antivirus software.
