March 26 - In the afternoon, it was reported that defendant Chen Shoufu officially filed an appeal to the Nanshan District Court of Shenzhen against the first-instance verdict on the Coral QQ case made several days ago. The case has thus entered the second instance trial stage. According to the judgment of the Nanshan District Court of Shenzhen, the court recognized all evidence provided by the procuratorate and sentenced defendant Chen Shoufu to three years in prison for copyright infringement, with a fine of RMB1.2 million. Meanwhile, the court will confiscate Chen Shoufu's illegal gains totaling RMB1,172,822.

It is worth noting that the court did not recognize the evidence provided by Chen Shoufu's lawyer, such as "Tencent Company providing Coral QQ download on its official website" and "Tencent Company inviting Chen Shoufu to attend the launch of the new version of QQ and seeking opinions on third-party development interface". The court also did not provide any analysis or explanation of the defense presented by the lawyer.

After the verdict, the Coral website (www.coralqq.com) updated its homepage, listing the corresponding evidence and still arguing that Chen Shoufu was innocent. Chen Shoufu's lawyer said that they would file an appeal directly to the Intermediate People's Court of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province within the legal time limit.

Before the deadline, sources revealed that Chen Shoufu's side was dissatisfied with the first-instance verdict of the court and had already submitted an appeal yesterday. The case will also enter the second instance trial stage. However, the relevant parties have not disclosed the trial date for the second instance of the case.

On March 20, the Nanshan Court made a formal ruling on the Coral QQ infringement case, sentencing the creator of Coral QQ, Chen Shoufu, to guilty. On the same day, the Coral Studio made an update, stating that the court did not make any analysis or explanation of the defense opinion and evidence presented by Chen Shoufu's lawyer, which undoubtedly became the main reason for Chen Shoufu to file an appeal.

According to reports, the public prosecution charged Chen Shoufu with copyright infringement, to which he pleaded guilty in court. The main reason for filing this appeal should be dissatisfaction with the court's punishment, including a three-year prison sentence and confiscation of income amounting to RMB1.18 million.

The appeal once again emphasized the fact that Tencent Company invited Chen Shoufu to participate in a press conference and argued that Tencent Company itself did not suffer any loss of interest due to this matter.
