qq.com has added a new service, launching the domain labs.qq.com, which seems to be imitating labs.google.com (Google Labs). Upon entering, you only see a Flash promotional page and a link to an innovation contest. Despite being a Chinese website targeting Chinese users, the Flash promotional content is in English, translating to: "Coming soon, fully unveiled on September 12th," echoing Microsoft's style of Flash website previews.

On the 12th, I was busy starting school and didn't have time to check it out. It wasn't until today that I had time to look at reports about it. Zgjie from pcpchina.com reported on September 12, 2006, Beijing Time, that http://labs.qq.com/ was finally made public, announcing that QQ Labs would officially launch on October 10 and that sign-ups for the internal public testing of QQ Video were open. All you needed to do was fill in your QQ number and provide an email address to receive the invitation. (Attached image)
