I spent a gloomy night watching a frustrating match (video). I watched the game on Sina's ESPN live broadcast. Although the commentary was in English and sometimes hard to understand, it was still better than some of the domestic moronic commentators.

Yes, we lost. Today, we lost the game and also lost our dignity. No blame on the referee, no blame on the state, no blame on anyone else - we just lost. Fortunately, it was only the first round of the Champions Cup, which serves as a wake-up call for us. It's like the old saying goes: "a blessing in disguise." By halftime, which was around 4 am, my internet suddenly had issues. First, I couldn't open the Sina comment page, then all instant messaging services were closed and unable to log back in. Restarting didn't solve the problem. I tried pinging two local Wuhan DNS servers (which I use): 202.103.24.68 and 202.103.0.117, but both failed. I thought it might be a network outage since there was still half the game left to watch. Then I tried pinging an IP address I knew: 208.109.65.229. Surprisingly, it worked. My first thought was that the Wuhan DNS server had crashed. There was still a way out. I quickly set all DNS settings to blank and obtained a backup DNS address. After replacing the original one, everything was fine again. Luckily, it only wasted about 10 minutes of my time, and I didn't miss much of the game.

During the game, I was thinking...
