I have a habit before I cook, which is to check the method on Baidu Zhidao (Baidu Knows). But every time after enjoying the delicious food, I always forget the method completely. When I cook the same dish next time, I have no choice but to increase Baidu's click volume again. Today, I bought an opium fish head and opened Baidu Zhidao with great enthusiasm, searching for "opium fish head", but Baidu said she didn't know.
It's strange, such a common dish that no one has asked about? I tried "ya pian fish head" (ya pian is another way to write opium in Chinese), Baidu reminded me that maybe I want to search for "opium fish head", but there were no relevant results afterward.
Since it can't be searched on Baidu, I might as well go to Google to search (the Chinese often call searching on Google "baidu" too). What made me collapse was that the first result was an entry from Baidu Zhidao, and the title of that entry was "How to steam opium fish head". Could Baidu not handle such a simple search by itself?
In fact, it's easy to find the answer. After removing the fish head, "opium" still couldn't find any results. Baidu believed that people should not be allowed to search for such dangerous keywords like "opium" on Baidu Zhidao.
Actually, Baidu needn't worry so much. People just search for "opium fish head," and middle school students just come to search for "Opium War." Since it has been filtered out, why does Baidu Baike still provide such detailed information about opium production and use?
My conclusion is: Baidu knows that Baidu knows, but doesn't want you to know. Google doesn't want Baidu to know, but since Baidu knows, it will still let you know.
