Play with motion control anytime, anywhere! Microsoft integrates Kinect into TVs.

The Microsoft Kinect sensor has given the Xbox 360 a new lease on life, and Microsoft's powerful SDK has enabled its applications to extend far beyond gaming. Is there still a need for Kinect to exist as a standalone Xbox 360 component? Rumors suggest that Microsoft will begin to seek partnerships with TV manufacturers such as Sony and Vizio to directly embed Kinect hardware into televisions. This would mean that people could turn on their TVs, change channels, and access on-demand programs without needing a remote control—just by making gestures in front of the TV. Of course, it would also be possible to play motion-controlled games directly on the television.

If these rumors are true, Microsoft would become the biggest competitor to Apple's TV plans, sparking a new fierce battle among living room products.
