Everyone is different, and everyone has their own purpose. This leads to each person browsing a website having different intentions. Blogs are the same; everyone who browses a blog does so with different intentions. Some are malicious, some are inconspicuous, some are fan-level... Bryan listed seven types of blog readers in his blog, which I find very accurate, but they can be further subdivided. Here, I will list nine types of blog readers, from the lowest level to the highest.
1. Malicious people.
This type of reader is very loyal, but the proportion should be small. Their loyalty is shown by their daily visits to your blog, where they look for places they think they are better than you, then tell you "The blogger is too outdated," "Do you even know how?" or "Garbage article"... They always think they are better than you, stronger than you. Most of the time, they leave anonymous comments, and their daily visits to your blog are just for psychological comfort.
2. Fickle people.
This type of reader is usually very loyal within a certain period. If you maintain a fixed update cycle (the most common being one post per day), they will appear very loyal, reading your posts every cycle and commenting. But once you pause updates for some reason, they won't come back or will visit rarely. Bryan used the term "fair-weather" to describe these readers.
3. Always opposing people.
These people always have something to say. For example, if you say in your blog that you like red, they will tell you green looks better. And when you change your preference and say green is your favorite, they will give many reasons why blue is the best looking. Compared to "malicious people," these readers aren't as bad. Their personal opinions aren't wrong, but do they really enjoy opposing others?
I think there are a lot of such people on CnBeta. Just look at the comments under each news piece. Is it to prove that their views and preferences are the most correct?
4. Quick comers and quick goers.
This type of reader usually comes from search engine referrals. They search for information through search engines and find your blog. Once they feel they've found the information they need, they leave. They may be in a hurry, and even if your blog suits their interests, they don't have time to continue reading. I am often this kind of reader.
5. People who leave meaningless comments.
Some people always leave meaningless comments, without any constructive value. These comments are usually unrelated to the article but not entirely off-topic either. The most common ones are "First comment," "Second comment," "I came to see you," "Just leaving a mark"...
6. People who don't read carefully.
There are many such readers. It could be because the article is too long, or maybe they simply don't want to keep reading, so they just skim through it. However, some of their actions can make a blogger angry. Some of these readers quickly scan the article and then leave comments at the bottom. These comments are either completely irrelevant to the content of the article or raise questions that have already been addressed in the article.
I would like to say to such readers: Please show some respect for bloggers. If you're not interested in an article, don't leave comments. If you want to comment, please read the article carefully first.
