According to the Qian Dao Daily, after knowing each other for 20 years, this loving couple finally officially grew old together. The bride said: "He has always taken good care of me, giving me a feeling of happiness and security." The groom said: "I am so happy, I finally have a family, a wife." On May 16, an elder from Oakland's Chinatown, Kuong Yong Hua, aged 111, married Liao Ziying, aged 69, in a grand ceremony in the Chinatown area, hosting a feast for 150 friends and family.

Kuong Yong Hua was born on December 15, 1899, in Taishan, Guangdong. Due to poverty at home, he was sold as a "coolie" to the United States when he was 12 or 13 years old, first being detained for over a month on Angel Island in San Francisco. He later attended school at Lincoln School in Oakland. He had worked as a laborer, in restaurants, and later in construction, contributing significantly to the temple. One could say that almost all of his over 90 years were spent in Oakland and Sacramento. Due to lack of legal status, he never returned to his homeland or left the country.

Currently, he and his newlywed wife live on 7th Street in Oakland's Chinatown. Still in their honeymoon phase, they smiled happily during an interview with the Qian Dao Daily on the 20th. Kuong Yong Hua said: "The matter of fate is really hard to explain. I have never been married before, nor have I had children. I never thought that at the age of 111, she would be willing to marry me. Having a family truly feels wonderful."
