IE8 is now available for download and installation - it's more than just a "clone" of Firebug.
Early in the morning, JoyQi found a Beta1 download link for IE8 on CnBeta (direct download link for XPSP2).
At first glance, it seemed like they had simply "copied" Firebug, but upon closer inspection, I realized that the improvements in IE8 are indeed significant.
The installation process was "extremely long," as it turned out that the major components were not bundled in the initial installer. This mechanism is similar to the Windows Live suite installation: the initial download is fast, but the actual installation takes longer. This experience also has its advantages: 1) Fast initial download speed, leading to a high "desktop arrival rate"; 2) The download package can be tailored to the local OS platform, with the potential to implement P2P transmission, which could increase large data transfer speeds.
However, its debugging tool (Developer Tools) is essentially a complete clone of Firebug. Whether you call it "shameless plagiarism" or "a respectable theft," for web developers, this is ultimately a pleasant development. Especially for those CSS experts who have been tortured by IE6 for years, they can finally spend some time researching things that are more important for society and humanity.
