Six Basic Factors for Improving Website Keyword Rankings

1. Appropriate Keyword Selection

Looking back on the "Net Interconnection" project I did before, it really wasn't very useful. It was just an internet news website, and there was no one competing with me, so it was relatively easy to do. Until one day, I realized that collecting news all day long was not beneficial at all for my website, so I gradually accepted the practice of updating one original article per day. Because large-scale collection of articles every day would only turn your website into a "garbage site," and it would never have any weight in search rankings. Later, after slowly getting into SEO, I realized that if you're doing an independent blog, you should focus on SEO. Only by doing SEO well will you find it easier to build any type of website later.

2. Emphasize Quality Over Quantity in Content

After the website was revamped, it has basically stopped collecting resources from the web. Instead, more original content is being produced. Although the writing may not be perfect, each piece is original, which is advantageous for search engines because we all know that search engines like new things. Therefore, my experience here is that you shouldn’t overly focus on the quantity of articles but rather emphasize their quality.

3. Strengthen Internal and External Links

Internal Links: When I first started building websites, external links seemed straightforward, but internal linking wasn't as easy. After all, internal links require modifying code, and you need to constantly identify and solve problems daily. So every day, I was figuring out how to make search engines crawl my site according to my way, even though it was tiring, the rewards were significant. I remember that whenever I published an article and pinged it, Baidu would instantly index it. But after a few hours, I would discover that the article disappeared from search results, although it was still accessible via its URL. This indicated that the website's weight was low. Only after strengthening internal links did I truly achieve stable indexing. Now, while my blog isn't indexed instantly anymore, at least once indexed, it won't disappear from search engines.

4. External Links

External links are probably the most crucial aspect of website optimization. After all, external links allow search engines to easily reach your website from any corner of the Internet. However, when posting external links, it’s important to be innovative, as mentioned in a previous article titled "SEO, Playing with Innovation," which emphasized the importance of innovation in external linking. Recently, I found another issue: if you always post external links in the same place, search engines can easily become indifferent to your links unless the platform where you post them is suitable for you. In most cases, this isn’t the case. At this point, you need to find new resources to post external links. Remember, once your external links are indexed, don’t delete them easily, as this could be detrimental to search engines. This is a basic principle that doesn’t need much elaboration.

5. Be Good at Learning from Others' Optimization Methods

This is essential for beginners because the websites ranked ahead of you are definitely better than yours. At this point, you need to learn from their optimization and promotion methods, selecting those that suit you. Being good at discovering others' strengths and merits will eventually help you catch up with them. After all, you're not just learning from one person, but many.

6. Suitable Friend Links

For new websites, "friend links" might be difficult to establish, but with time, they will come. Regarding this aspect, I won’t say much except to emphasize that when doing "friend links," it must be appropriate. Websites unrelated to your theme should be avoided as much as possible, unless their website has high weight and can bring you many benefits.

7. Maintain a Good Attitude

Finally, it’s important to talk about "attitude." Regardless of what industry you're in, maintaining a good attitude is most important. Whether your ranking goes up or down, don't take it too seriously. If it rises, we should feel that our efforts haven't been wasted; if it drops, it only proves that we still need to improve. Therefore, I want to stress again that when doing SEO, it's essential to maintain a positive attitude consistently.
