On the 27th, Microsoft held a press conference in Los Angeles. At the conference, Microsoft's CEO Steve Ballmer released the entire new series of enterprise software platform systems, including Windows Server 2008, Visual Studio 2008, and SQL Server 2008.
As the server operating system platform for enterprise users, the development platform Visual Studio 2008, and the database service platform SQL Server 2008, Microsoft's enterprise software platform products bring many new features and functions, with enhancing enterprise productivity as their focus. Microsoft stated that Windows Server 2008 supporting the Beta version of Hyper-V virtualization technology and Visual Studio 2008 are now available for purchase starting today. Meanwhile, the February Community Technology Preview version with full functionality of SQL Server 2008 is currently available, with the official version expected to be launched in the third quarter of this year. In addition, Windows Essential Server 2008 and Windows Small Business Server 2008 will be released later this year, the release date for Windows HPC Server 2008 targeting supercomputers is expected to be in the second half of this year, while Windows Storage Server 2008 will be available at the end of this year.
In addition to this press conference, Microsoft will also hold 225 press conferences worldwide to release this set of products. Multiple "IT Hero Conferences" within China will be held in March.
