Before valve maintenance, a comprehensive inspection of the valve should be carried out to address any defects identified during the inspection. The main contents of the inspection are as follows: First, clean the exterior of the valve and conduct an external check; then, operate the valve switch once. If the switch is not flexible or alternates between loose and tight, it may indicate a bent valve stem. Next, disassemble the valve for inspection, marking each connected component during disassembly to facilitate reassembly. Inspect the bending and corrosion conditions of the valve stem, especially where it contacts the packing, ensuring smoothness and straightness. Bending and corrosion of the valve stem should not exceed 0.1mm. Check for cracks in the valve body and cover, inspect the condition of the packing for damage, and examine the corrosion and wear on the sealing surfaces of the valve head and seat. If the depth of corrosion or wear is within 0.5mm, it can be eliminated by grinding. If it exceeds 0.5mm, first use a lathe to smooth it, then eliminate the issue through grinding. Other components such as screws, flange planes, and valve stem nuts should also be inspected. After the inspection, the scope of maintenance can be determined.
