Microsoft Should Buy SAP, Not Yahoo

According to foreign media reports, famous New York Times technology column reporter Randall Stross has put forward a novel point of view: if Microsoft must acquire a large company, then its target should be SAP instead of Yahoo. Stross believes that SAP's business type is close to Microsoft's, while acquiring Internet company Yahoo would lead Microsoft to make the most serious strategic decision error in its history.

Stross thinks that for 13 years, Microsoft has always hoped to occupy the commanding heights of the consumer online advertising field, which is obviously misplaced. Moreover, acquiring Yahoo, a company that has already passed its peak, will not provide much help for Microsoft's ambition to dominate the Internet. On the contrary, focusing on acquiring Yahoo will only further distract Microsoft from its rightful path of commercial development - business software. The consequence could be catastrophic.
