There was a bear that lived in the deep mountains, leading a lonely life without friends, year-round solitude and sadness. His mood was gloomy, and he couldn't help but feel irritable.
Not far from him lived an old man who loved flowers and gardens, but because he had no one to exchange feelings with, he also grew very tired of his lonely life.
One morning, the old man went out looking for friends, and the bear, with the same goal, happened to be coming down the mountain. They met at a bend in the road, and the old man was afraid in his heart, but he knew he couldn't show fear in front of the wild animal. The bear didn't beat around the bush, asking directly: "Are you here to see me?"
The old man replied: "Sir, it would be a great honor if you could come to my house for a simple meal. I have milk and fruit at home, which may not suit your taste, but I will try my best to find some food that suits you."
The bear gladly accepted the invitation and they went together. In the short journey, they had already become good friends.
When they arrived at the old man's house, they got along well. Because the bear was silent and spoke little, the old man could work undisturbed. The bear went out hunting every day and brought back prey. It also had a very important task, which was to drive away flies from the face of its sleeping friend.
One day, while the old man was sound asleep, a fly landed on his nose tip. The bear tried every method but couldn't drive the fly away, not knowing what to do.
"I must catch you!" The bear was furious, saying, "Today I will deal with you once and for all!" With that, the bear picked up a stone and smashed it towards the fly. The fly was dead, but the old man's head was also cracked open. The old man lay straight on the bed and died on the spot. The bear was a loyal friend without much thought, truly helpless.
It is better to have an unreasonable enemy than a clumsy friend, for there is nothing more dangerous than having a foolish friend.
