The Victim Lost Nearly 800,000 Yuan
Cangzhou, Yanzhao Metropolis Network (Reporter Dai Qing) At 12:20 AM on May 7th, a group of masked thugs suddenly broke into the home of Cao Wanjie, a villager from Dacao Village in Liangcun Town, Suning County. The intruders, armed with handguns and machetes, cornered the four family members inside one of the inner rooms and quickly proceeded to rob them. Not only did the thugs take 6,000 yuan in cash from a backpack, as well as valuable items like mobile phones and cameras, but they also captured and loaded onto a vehicle 13 valuable German Shepherds from the yard. In just over 20 minutes, the thugs had ransacked the entire house before driving off into the night. According to the victim, his direct economic loss amounted to nearly 800,000 yuan.
Masked Thugs Armed with Knives and Guns Enter Home at Night
At 12:20 AM on May 7th, Cao Wanjie's family in Dacao Village, Liangcun Town, Suning County were awakened by the barking of dogs. "It's so late, what's going on?" Cao Wanjie got up and opened the door light. At the moment the light turned on, he saw two dark figures standing on top of his wall. "I was startled and thought I encountered bad people, so I hurriedly turned around to run back inside. But then they jumped down from the wall and chased me in," Cao Wanjie recounted. Instantly, four masked thugs armed with knives and guns stood in front of the four family members, threatening them not to make a sound.
"Two of them were holding handguns, while the other two had large machetes about a meter long, which scared my wife and children so much that their whole bodies were trembling," Cao Wanjie recalled. During the confrontation, one of the thugs began searching for valuables in each room. He first found 6,000 yuan in cash from a backpack and then took a newly purchased digital camera worth 1,900 yuan and a mobile phone.
Cao Wanjie said that all four thugs were male, around 30 years old, and communicated very little during the crime. However, from their few exchanges, it could be determined from their accents that they were likely from the western part of Suning or nearby areas.
13 Valuable German Shepherds Were Captured
While the four thugs were using knives and guns to threaten Cao Wanjie’s family and conducting the robbery inside the house, there were another two or three accomplices in the yard starting to capture the dogs. "I heard the dogs in the yard keep barking, and there were two or three shadowy figures busy capturing them," Cao Wanjie said. He himself is a professional dog breeder, raising a total of 16 German Shepherds at home—half of them adult dogs and the other half four-and-a-half-month-old puppies—all of which were at the stage where they could fetch good prices.
Cao Wanjie mentioned that the thugs in the yard spent approximately 20 minutes capturing the dogs. Afterward, the accomplices inside started retreating, and they quickly drove away into the night. After the thugs left, the terrified Cao Wanjie immediately called the police. Officers from the Liangcun Station of the Suning County Criminal Investigation Team arrived at the scene to understand the situation.
According to Cao Wanjie, since last year, incidents of dog theft and dog snatching have been occurring in the surrounding villages of Suning, but usually involving only two or three people carrying sticks and sacks, stealing dogs when no one was paying attention. "What I encountered this time is unprecedented—openly wielding machetes and handguns to break into homes and snatch dogs."
After the Robbery, Losses Amounting to Nearly 800,000 Yuan Leave Him Bankrupt
After the robbery incident, Cao Wanjie had not slept for 36 hours straight until noon on May 8th. He was contacting local police while also personally searching for clues to solve the case. "I've been raising dogs for seven or eight years, just as things were going smoothly and I started making money, I didn't expect to suffer such a huge blow," Cao Wanjie lamented. Recalling the hardships of his entrepreneurial journey, Cao Wanjie sighed repeatedly, "Valuable dogs are difficult to raise; if their living habits aren't properly managed, they die easily, and losing more than ten is quite common." Cao Wanjie added that the business requires significant investment, and he still owes tens of thousands of yuan in debt.
On the morning of May 7th, Cao Wanjie was originally planning to bring his beloved dogs to Tianjin for an exhibition and contact potential buyers. However, within just a few hours, he fell victim to the robbery. "The thugs stole 13 of my dogs, one of which is worth 500,000 yuan, and the others together amount to more than 200,000 yuan. Now I am truly bankrupt," Cao Wanjie helplessly said.
At noon on May 8th, reporters contacted the Liangcun Police Station of Suning County. An officer stated that they had already received the report and conducted investigations twice at the scene. Currently, the local police have opened a case, but details of the investigation cannot be disclosed yet. (Mr. Zhang is invited to claim a 50-yuan tip.)
