Roxxxy: The World's First Sex Robot
Any man would find it unbearable: you're engrossed in a Manchester United match, but your wife or girlfriend keeps chattering incessantly, urging you to accompany her shopping... You might regret your initial choice. However, if you had chosen Roxxxy - the robot girlfriend, all problems would be solved because she can watch football matches with you and chat about your beloved "Red Devils." This isn't science fiction; it's reality. On January 9th, at an adult entertainment exhibition in Las Vegas, TrueCompanion, based in New Jersey, unveiled Roxxxy, the world's first sex robot.
TrueCompanion’s Roxxxy is made to resemble a real human, with skin that closely mimics human skin texture and five distinct personalities.
"Real Companion" robots offer dozens of hairstyles to choose from.
The perfect robot, Aiko, is diligent and hardworking without complaint. She also exhibits strong "female consciousness," capable of slapping "harassers."
Special writing by Zhi Lin and Wang Chang
Robots typically evoke thoughts of industrial applications, and perhaps one might associate them with domestic robots for housework or battlefield robots. However, just as love is an eternal theme for humanity, the robotics industry is rapidly advancing towards this area. From heart-stirring humanoid robots with lifelike appearances to conversational robot companions, and now to sex robots developed in the U.S. that engage in unrestricted private dialogues, the sexual elements of robots are becoming increasingly sophisticated. So far, however, the focus remains primarily on female robots, while male robots still have a long way to go...
Roxxxy: The World's First Sex Robot
A situation no man can tolerate: you're fully absorbed in watching a Manchester United game, but the wife or girlfriend beside you won't stop talking, demanding that you go shopping with her... You may regret your original choice. If you had chosen her—Roxxxy (the robot girlfriend)—all issues would be resolved because she could watch the game with you and discuss your favorite 'Red Devils.' This isn't a movie; it's fact. On January 9th, at an adult entertainment expo in Las Vegas, TrueCompanion, headquartered in New Jersey, launched the world's first sex robot—Roxxxy.
Besides having all the functions of an inflatable doll, this robot can send emails to its owner, upgrade its own program online, automatically expand its vocabulary, and even chat with people. Roxxxy was invented by Douglas Hines, an artificial intelligence engineer at Bell Labs. According to him, this robot is designed in full human size, modeled after a student from the art department, standing at 170 cm tall, weighing 54 kg, with C-cup breasts, possessing human-like skin and an AI operating system...
Hines said: "She can do anything for you except clean the room and cook meals—I think you understand what I mean. She's a great companion, has personality, listens patiently to your voice, and can converse with you. She can feel your touch, sleeps when it's time, and we are trying our best to replicate human characteristics onto her. If you're a sports fan, that's great; she can completely discuss Manchester United's performance with you instead of nagging you to do other things. Moreover, she can endure your dissatisfaction and complaints about the game without any grudges."
However, regrettably, although Roxxxy has flexible joints, she cannot walk or independently move her limbs. Additionally, Roxxxy cannot speak with her mouth; her voice comes from a speaker inside her body. The words used during conversations are pre-recorded, but intelligent software built within her can freely combine sentences according to need.
Unit Price $7000, Five Personalities Available
Hines revealed that his design inspiration came from 9/11, "A friend of mine died in the attack, and I vowed to design software to store my friend's personality, which forms the basis of Roxxxy." After research combining the expertise of 18 artists and engineers from three countries, costing nearly a million dollars, it took two and a half years to complete.
However, Roxxxy is not the company's first sex robot. The company's website states that research into sex robots has spanned several decades. In 1993, Hines designed the sex robot Trudy, though even Hines himself admitted that compared to Roxxxy, Trudy wasn't user-friendly and still showed obvious signs of being a machine.
Currently, Roxxxy is available for preorder, customizable according to personal preferences. Customers can choose from five models: Wild Type, Cold Type, Innocent Type, Mature Type, and Stimulating Type. Additionally, customers must fill out their interests and hobbies to provide more topics for conversation. "She knows what you like; if you like Porsche, then she likes Porsche too. If you like football, she can talk football with you," Hines said.
Roxxxy is quite expensive, averaging $7000, with the most expensive model around $9000. Currently, it is only available in Europe and the U.S., but will eventually be sold globally. Hines also disclosed that the company is researching a robot boyfriend named Rocky, "He will be just as good!"

This robot is made to resemble a real person, with skin that closely mimics human skin and five different personalities.
Besides the beautiful Roxxxy, there are a few other robots under the banner of femininity. They were hailed as a blessing for otaku men, not entirely human but almost indistinguishable from them.
"True Companion" robots offer dozens of hairstyles to choose from.
Skilled Japanese manufacturers are dedicated to creating a new species—"robots." They can mimic human appearance, voices, and even possess intelligence and emotions similar to humans. Well-crafted robots are gradually moving from factories to homes, from laboratories into daily life, serving as tools, companions, and even lovers. In shared living with humans, they are more than just mechanical arms assembling car parts on busy production lines or invincible steel warriors venturing into the most dangerous frontlines. They can perform various household chores and smile while asking you, "Are you happy today?"
In March last year, Japanese scientists showcased a mechanical black-haired beauty who could not only speak and walk but also displayed rich expressions and could walk the catwalk on stage. It's reported that this dazzling humanoid robot named "HRP-4C" is equipped with 30 engines to help it walk and move its arms, while eight engines in its face give it the ability to express anger, surprise, and more.
During the demonstration, HRP-4C performed walking, blinking, and speaking. It spoke with a feminine voice saying, "Hello everyone!" Weighing only 42 kilograms, HRP-4C rivals the "size zero" models. However, developers doubt whether HRP-4C could become a qualified model. During the demonstration, HRP-4C appeared perpetually surprised. When asked to smile or express anger, it only opened its mouth wide and eyes, showing a look of astonishment.
Developers said that one of the major challenges in robot development was creating "feminine" small components. Standing at approximately 1.57 meters, HRP-4C is designed to resemble an average Japanese woman. Although dressed in clothing, it looks somewhat like a spacesuit. HRP-4C adheres to clear safety standards and can perform the catwalk alongside human models.
Miss Kido
Age: Unveiled in 2008
Resembles a mixed-race individual
Playfully blinks her eyes
Is a "gas cylinder" girl
Miss Kido, the robot, made her debut in Guangzhou at the end of last year, captivating onlookers with her mesmerizing gaze.
Sensual Miss Kido
Her electric gaze captivates men
At the end of last year, at the Robot Expo in Guangzhou's Oriental Baotai Plaza, both the beautiful robots and the robotic gorillas amazed visitors with their highly realistic shapes and movements. The most eye-catching was "Miss Kido," placed right at the center of the stage. Only two years old, she wore a light-colored dress, with clearly visible pores on her face and hands, making her appearance incredibly lifelike. Visitors could control the robot (or animal robots) with buttons on-site, allowing them to perform various actions. She hails from Japan, with an enchanting name and striking good looks, resembling a mixed-race individual with big eyes and a high nose bridge. While speaking, she playfully blinked her eyes. Though not human and not as "capable" as Roxxxy, this did not deter admirers, whose eyes lit up as they surrounded her.
Japanese robotics experts introduced that these robots are not driven by electricity or oil but by "gas"! Each robot hides a "gas cylinder" inside, connected by numerous "gas lines," each controlling a small action such as finger movement or blinking. "Electric robots have stiff movements because their joints use small motors, but gas makes the robot's movements much smoother and more realistic."
Perfect Aiko
Diligent and Hardworking
Age: 20 years
Features: Cleaning rooms, bookkeeping; speaks English and Japanese, solves algebra and geometry problems. Strong "female awareness," can slap harassers.
Obedient Aiko
The Ideal Wife in Men's Hearts
She is the ideal wife in men's hearts: slim, good at managing finances, and adept at housework, most importantly, never complains. Her name is "Aiko," a robot created by Canadian inventor Zhong Li. At 33 years old, Zhong Li is a computer mastermind. Born in Vietnam and raised in Japan, he built his first robot at the age of eight. To create his dream goddess, he spent two years and £14,000, using up all his savings and even selling his car. He explained that due to not having time to date, he utilized the latest technology to create a "perfect lady." Aiko weighs approximately 32 kilograms, with a silicone-made body. Zhong Li completed her hardware in just one and a half months but spent over a year writing the software.
Capable of Doing Many Chores
She is the Standard "Ideal Wife"
Zhong Li said, "'Aiko' is the product of the encounter between technology and beauty." She is in her early twenties, youthful and slim, with a pretty face. She is always willing to clean the house, help Zhong Li keep accounts, and knows what drinks he prefers. Every morning, "Aiko" reads the newspaper to Zhong Li, starting a new day. She can inform Zhong Li about the weather in a soft, feminine voice, such as: "It's minus 2 degrees Celsius outside."
In the evening, they sit together at the dining table, but "Aiko" has a poor appetite and doesn't eat anything. They often drive out to the countryside for leisure. If Zhong Li accidentally gets lost, he relies on "Aiko" to guide him. To save money, "Aiko" wears clothes from Zhong Li's mother. He said that his mother loves "Aiko" very much and combs her hair every day, treating her like a daughter. Currently, Zhong Li is waiting for new parts to reinstall "Aiko's" hands so he can teach her how to brew tea and make coffee in the morning.
"Female Awareness" is Very Strong
Can Slap "Harassers"
"Aiko" is equipped with sensors in key areas of her body and a camera on her neck, giving her the sense of touch, vision, and hearing. Zhong Li said, "'Aiko' lacks the sense of smell but has all other senses."
Aiko can respond to tickling and touching, recognize people, and speak 13,000 sentences in English and Japanese, solving algebra and geometry problems. Zhong Li let "Aiko" read a piece of paper with large print, and she smoothly finished reading it with only one mistake. She can nod and move her hands. Zhong Li even took "Aiko" to the park, drawing many spectators. He said, "Ladies usually vie to talk to her, while men want to touch her. If they behave improperly, 'Aiko' will slap them and shout loudly in anger." Even when Zhong Li gently pats her head, she says, "It's not good to touch a girl's head; touch your own head."
With Slight Software Improvements
She Becomes a Sexual Partner
Currently, Zhong Li's next goal is to make "Aiko" more perfect, able to walk like a human, which requires substantial funding. But Zhong Li has been unemployed for three months and can no longer afford more money.
Currently, finding investors is his top priority. Once successful, he hopes to sell replicas for use as domestic workers. Zhong Li said, "'Aiko' does not need holidays, does not eat, does not rest, and can work 24 hours a day, making her a perfect lady."
As media attention and reporting grew, Zhong Li became famous, gaining internet celebrity status. But in interviews, he denied that "Aiko" was his girlfriend or wife. He emphasized that he did not intend to develop an intimate relationship with Aiko but that with slight modifications, she could serve as a sexual partner. He said, "Just redesign the software so she can reach climax and respond to touches during intimate moments."
Future Outlook
By 2050 at the Latest, Will Humans Have Daily Intimacy with Robots?
British renowned artificial intelligence expert David Levy once boldly predicted in his book "Love and Sex with Robots" that by 2050 at the latest, humans would treat robots as lovers, sexual partners, and even marriage spouses, becoming a social norm. "Falling in love with a robot is as normal as falling in love with another human. The frequency and positions of sexual encounters can be customized to your liking. Robots are capable of everything, and existing sex guides should pose no challenge to them."
Reasons to Love Robots
The book analyzes the main reasons why humans fall in love with others, including mystery, anticipation of unknown relationships, and emotional and sexual attraction. However, strangers met online can also fall in love without meeting, showing that love cannot be controlled. With close contact, regardless of whether something is alive or not, humans can develop feelings. Therefore, people love pets and consider them family members; some even fall in love with teddy bears, computers, and digital pets, proving that humans don't necessarily need to fall in love with their own kind. "All factors that cause affection apply to the relationship between humans and robots, such as compatibility in personality, deep knowledge, or mutual affection, which can be programmed into computers."
More Attentive Than American Men
Through "artificial emotional technology," robots are more attentive than typical American men. As long as robots understand human needs, they can become part of the family. "When buying a robot, you can choose different personalities, like ordering online, selecting 4% humor and serious demeanor for the rest of the time. You can also download programs anytime to change personality, interests, and knowledge."
A thoroughly custom-designed robot can certainly win human affection, even appearing more lovable than humans. Human sexual behavior varies greatly, and machines already assist in physiological needs, such as realistic and fully functional inflatable dolls. With advanced enough software, "there is no reason to believe that humans would not find more anthropomorphic robots sexually appealing"; the relationship becomes more intimate, and sexual intercourse is entirely possible. Future robots will not only be sex toys but also considered soulmates, objects of love.
"Romantic Barbie" Will Replace Women
What will Barbie dolls look like in 2050? Last year, scientists from Maastricht University in the Netherlands announced at an international conference that the first generation of "romantic humans" robots would emerge by 2050. These new robots will no longer be simple mechanical robots but will have emotions, personalities, and consciousness. They can converse with you, make you laugh, say "I love you," and a type of "romantic Barbie" female robot will even have sexual functions. Scientists stated that a simulated version of these new robots will be launched within five years. Previously, Dutch scientists made breakthroughs in electronic intercom systems and temperature sensors for robots, making them appear more lifelike.
Cold Observation
No Matter How Realistic, They Are Still Fake
Good Women Are Irreplaceable
The most marketable feature of the robot beauty Roxxxy created by Americans is that she has smooth, lifelike skin and can do anything with you... She has dark hair and a warm, delicate body, wearing a dark nightgown. When you place your hand in hers, she says, "I like holding hands with you." However, this raises a question: if it becomes widespread, will men choose real girlfriends or robots?
After Roxxxy's introduction, public reactions mainly fell into two categories: one mixed with curiosity welcomed it, with someone excitedly asking if a younger version could be released soon. Another opinion criticized it, with some outright calling the engineers developing sex robots extremists. A Los Angeles netizen said, "Although robots can possess various human functions, they ultimately remain machines that can break down. Human society inevitably involves human interaction. Everyone hugging a machine, what kind of thing is that? A real woman will always be my final choice."
Some analysts claim that what lies on the other end of virtuality doesn't matter; what matters is the tangible experience here. This fixed-process-controlled human-machine relationship satisfies some people's desire for communication yet reluctance to interact face-to-face. Thus, robots replace certain important roles in real life, becoming thoroughly "humanized." However, despite robots being able to simulate human emotions in response, they remain far from matching human emotion and intelligence. Is it the machine being assimilated by humans, or humans being alienated by machines? The vicious cycle caused by excessive obsession with machines deserves deep reflection.
