In just a few short years, the Google logo has become as recognizable as the Nike swoosh or the peacock insignia of NBC. Ruth Kedar, the designer of the Google logo, tells the story behind the creation of this symbol that represents one of the most powerful brands in the world. Kedar met Google's two founders, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, nine years ago through a mutual friend at Stanford University, where she was working as a teaching assistant at the time. Page and Brin were struggling to come up with a logo for their soon-to-be-released search engine and asked Kedar to help design a prototype. "I had no idea that Google would become so pervasive or successful," says Kedar.
