Ronshen Refrigerator, Compressor Cannot Start Normally

Fault Phenomenon: The compressor cannot start normally.

Inspection Experience: In this case, the failure of the compressor to start normally is caused by a defective start relay.

There are two situations for checking the start relay:

(1) Inspection of the Heavy Hammer Type Start Relay: The faults of the heavy hammer type start relay include contact sticking, poor contact or coil open circuit. During inspection, you can hold the start relay and shake it a few times. If you can hear the sound of the armature colliding, use the R1 range of a multimeter to measure the resistance between the two plugs. It should be normal. Then invert it along the installation direction and measure the resistance which should be 0Ω. If there is a measurable resistance, it indicates poor contact or damage to the contacts, requiring disassembly of the start relay for handling. Finally, check if the start relay coil has any de-soldering or cold soldering.

(2) PTC Start Relay Inspection: At room temperature of about 25℃, use the R1 range of a multimeter to measure the resistance between the two lead terminals of the start relay, which should be 15~24Ω. If the resistance is too large, you can open its casing and directly measure the resistance of the PTC to make a judgment. Practice shows that the possibility of PTC itself being damaged is small, and the majority of reasons are due to poor contact at its lead terminals.
