LG Air Conditioner Repair Case: Air conditioner compressor starts, and the leakage current circuit breaker trips.
Fault Phenomenon: After turning on the LG LP-E3224DAR(KFR-32GW/E) air conditioner, the indoor unit runs. 3 minutes later, the compressor starts and the air conditioner's leakage current circuit breaker trips.
Analysis and Inspection: Upon inspection, it was found that the user's power cord had a 1m section made of telephone wire.
Repair Method: According to technical requirements, after replacing the power cord with a 2.5mm² one, the fault was eliminated. The method for detecting the tripping of the leakage current circuit breaker is as follows.
Warm Reminder: The following precautions should be taken when using an air conditioner's power cord:
(1) The power cord and socket must be dedicated and cannot be shared with other household appliances' power cords and sockets to prevent short circuits caused by excessive load leading to fire. Therefore, each room should have its own power cord pulled from the main power source and a dedicated socket installed.
(2) The power supply used for air conditioners domestically is municipal electricity, which is single-phase 220V/50Hz. Internationally, the specified voltage range for air conditioners is 220(±10%)V (198V~242V). When the voltage used exceeds this range, a voltage stabilizer should be set up to prevent the air conditioner from failing to start or run normally, and even being damaged. LG air conditioners operate within a voltage range of 185V~242V, which is wider than the national standard. Therefore, it is recommended to purchase such wide-voltage air conditioners.
